Need help in choosing a lift kit

    Hello everyone.

I`m a VX owner from Romania. I have my truck since 2006 and I want to get some upgrades.
I have seen LittleBeast truck and I decided I want a 3" lift in order to fit 20" rims with 33" tires.
Reading your threads I understand that Calamini is not good. I found independent4x.com and they have a lot of lift kits and suspenssion parts.
Please help me to choose what I need because I`m a beginner.

    Thanks a lot

you dont really need a kit.. ordering OME (Old Man Emu) 912 springs will give you 3" of lift in the rear and then turning your torsion bars in the front will take care of the front.. stock shocks are adequate if you dont go any higher.. longer brake lines are nice but not necessary.. indy4x has nice kits for extras to beef everything up but you dont necessarily need it all

EDIT! i had typed in old man emu shocks before.. should have said.. old man emu SPRINGS sorry about that.. thanks for catching that ldub

the only thing that i think would be a really good idea would be a differential drop.. talk to tom4bren about getting a set of those

    Question

Is there heavy duty torsion bars available (like sway away) cuz I thought the more you crank the factory torsions, it weakens them plus the ride gets real stiff....

Its OK...lots of stuff ya really dont need..

The OME springs and a simple Torsion crank is the way to go IMO..

....it will save ya MANY $$$'s...

    ...and is just as good.

Yup, I lifted for under $150 with the OME 912 springs, cranked the front T-bars and was done. I have done nothing else to my VX to get the 3"s. In my opinion, the OME 912 springs will give you about 2"s of lift, and then once you go with bigger tires you will gain another inch or so.

Look at this thread for some good photos of what you can do:

Or maybe even better, if your springs don't sag & fall out on the trail.........

Even though I have a cheap source of third party driveshafts, I'm going to do a diff drop (and rotate the front axle a little bit towards transfer case).

Search for "lift wiki" on this site and you will find a thread with everything you will ever need. I would post the link but I am on the PS3 currently.

    Here's the linky

Can't believe I beat ldub to this one.

I have the Calmini lift on mine (according to PO). I have no complaints. The one thing I did notice on mine is that it includes a panhard rod drop bracket. I'm not sure it's necessary but some owners have noticed a shift in the the rear axle (to the right) after lifting. This may be the 'fix' for that but the consensus is still out.

I can help you with the Diff Drop Brackets but so can Joe Darlington (I think he's a member).

    Tom

If you lift - please get rims with 'offset from hell' so I'm not alone
