I saw this movie as soon as it was available for rent. I had my VX at the time, but don't remember the Trooper. It was a really good movie with a buildup to a surprise ending.
I only got it 'cuz it was the third movie directed by Sean Penn. I loved his first two films, The Indian Runner, and The Crossing Guard. Some of the same actors appear in these films. The Indian Runner was inspired by and based upon the Bruce Springsteen song, Highway Patrolman. Bruce wrote and recorded a great song for the incredible opening segments of The Crossing Guard, called Missing. That song was never on a Bruce album 'til that multi-disc compilation. Even then it could not be downloaded alone, without the whole album. I finally found the song for sale as a single at Walmart Music Downloads. I was so happy to have that song on my PC. Look it up, it's one of my favorite Bruce tracks.
I just looked and Sean directed another highly acclaimed film in 2007, Into The Wild, which I have never seen or heard of 'til now. I'll be looking for that one this week.
Mark Griffin
Edit: I'm kinda getting off topic here, but I found a video for Missing as a trailer for The Crossing Guard. I get goosebumps when I hear that song start. Absolutely haunting.
