I just really don't like the new FJ. I mean, I give Toyota points for the effort, but imo, it looks like a Hummer drawn by a cartoonist. Its just way too big and way too bubblely looking. I've tried, but I can't get into it.

Yeah but have you seen Jay Dunford's blacked out FJ? He took it to Moab with all of us, it one of the only FJ's I like, it is a pretty sweet ride and he is not done with it yet.

Yup, I wheeled with Jay in Moab 08. It's not that I hate it or anything, it's just that I have tried to like it for a while, and I have finally reached my decision... Either way, I'm sure they make good wheelers and have some good aspects.

But you have a point. Blacking out any vehicle definitely takes it up a notch as far as coolness.

pretty sure it would destroy 95% of the vehicles on this list in the offroad world, but its too ugly i guess

And FJ is 1.5 door on each side right??

I think the FJ can out wheel 50% stock, and if we're comparing modded I'd say 35%

Well, yes and no. I do like a lot of these vehicles, several of them not so much. Of all of them listed there are two I would LOVE to have, the Defender 90 and a 89 Trooper RS. The rest you can keep.

So, if you want a jab, here's one: Did you even read the beginning of this post?

"- Is considered a "sport utility vehicle" or "light truck"
- Only 2 doors
- Has a SWB
- Has a stock xfer case (no 4x4 lifted Ford Feisas on 35"s please)
- Non military, consumer vehicle"

FJ don't fit.

Yup, it IS too ugly! Really though, I think it depends on the trail. An FJ would get eaten up on certain trails that a Samurai could squeeze through. And if you want to compare these rigs as a starting platform for greater things, the FJ would be destroyed by "95%" of the vehicles on this list even though you can get it with lockers out of the box. For the cost of an FJ with the goods, you can get almost any one of these other older rides and deck it out to outperform the FJ VERY easily.

right, but we arent talking about...what the best offroad vehicle is for a low budget...we are talking about good offroad vehicles..

i could just as easily say, give me a go-kart and 15K and ill outrun a ferrari
