I have been parking in the garage at the apartment and with the tire on I wont fit.

I would cut the paneling where the box would start to make it flush with the box, that way the upper metal is not exposed.

Well then, I think it can definitely be done. You just need to really plan and measure. It would be cool if you could find some sort of plastic trim that you could use over the edges where you cut, to give it a nice finished look.

Yeah I would probly try and find an extra set of interior pieces just in case. I know it could come out nice if done right. I dont think I will put my spare in there after looking at the size Kenny's took up. Maybe a 6 or 8 inch height would be enough.

    now you got me thinking

how nice an opening rear window and a tailgate would have been instead of this monstrosity of a door.

    just my 2cents...
dont put your spare in the back of the VX...unless you put it vertical along the side (similar to an older jeep)...there just simply isnt enough room

i was actually looking into building something like this because i wanted to be able to store my spare in the back and have some more cargo space...

although, after i layed the tire in there i realized that it would take up WAAAAAY too much space, unless you make a vertical mount

instead....build a false floor all the way across the back with storage right behind the seats. and a drawer underneath all of it, simliar to LDUB's....and buy some of that nifty rubber matting to put on top of the false floor...

now you have more space and cargo room...

thats actually one of my projects for this summer. i've been getting sick of my dog getting my VX all dirty, plus i can give the cargo box an angle so he has something to stand against when i brake hard

Wow, I was just thinking of making a rolling bike rail to make it easy to load my mini trail bike in the back.
Something like the sliding seat on a rowing machine.
A wider version would be very cool, maybe able to haul two mini trails (CT 70's)
I wonder how much it would cost???????
It said it raises the the deck about 4", I wonder if you could put wheel pockets in without effecting the travel???
I was thinking of using the front seat brackets, of the rear seat, as mounts so it could be easily pinned and removed.
