Sounds like a good notion, but what would be the advantages?

Mobil-1: Lower friction, better thermal performance, longevity, uniform molecular structure, better contaminant supsension, all sorts of wonderful things. Besides, your Ebony will love you for it!;Do; Just remember to get the LSD additive for the rear diff. I've got pics in my gallery of the fill and drain points too.
I just had my transmission flushed and refilled with Mobil 1 ATF synthetics and the differentials filled up with Mobil 1 75w 90 synthetic Gear Lube and added a LSD additive in plus the oil change with Mobil 1 10w 30 synthetics...
The VX shifts SO much smoother and seems faster to redline?
I am very happy i went this route. I feel with the SC installed this is the best way to treat her to some good stuff.

DITTO!Did this with47mi. on the ODO,the dealership was 35.8 miles from home. If you love it, treat it that way.
Gonna change diff/t-case fluids before my Utah trip. Is it worthwhile to have my tranny flush 'n filled as well? How much will shop charge for this if I bring the oild to them?
my guy charged me 200 and I brought them all they fluids the also flushed the radiator.
FOR $200 PLUS YOU BOUGHT THE FLUIDS........I change all the fluid out of every stinking thing that has fluid in your VX;eekp; ...............

Yike!;eekg; You can do the change yourself, but it's not a flush. It'll probably leave a couple quarts of the previous ATF but Mobil-1 is fully compatible so it'll blend with no adverse results. The next change will get the rest out. MityVac make an $89 accessory that make the job real easy.
A flush is the ONLY way to get all the fluid changed out in a tranny - all 9.1 qts. A drain and refill only gets about 3-4 qts out and leaves the majority of the old fluid in. Dropping the pan and changing the filter gets the same amount but should be done every other change IMHO and is good to do after flushing with synthetic since that fluid has a longer life. Although it is a chore, the filter will not clean itself and a clogged filter will eventually kill the tranny.
Did I get ripped? Oh well, it was well worth it. Drives so much smoother now... plus I did not have time to get dirty...
Tone - So you're saying to get the pan dropped (fliter changed) and drained AND a flush-and-fill at the same time?
or
Get it flushed and filled (all 9.1 qts) and then next time drop the pan and change the filter?
I think I really need to get this done since I could not find any records proving that a 30k mile service was done to my VX :confused: :mad:

Joe_Black - The MityVac accessory you spoke of - I'm assuming that is some sort of vacuum attachment? Can you elaborate?
Is that the only way to do a complete flush, besides taking it to a shop?
The MityVac accessory is, to my knowledge, the closest you can get to a flush at home. You won't get all the original ATF the first go, but will notice a significant improvement. Cyrk didn't necessarily get ripped, he just paid to have someone take care of the whole process for him. And the fact he's all smiles is testament he made the right choice for him!;Do;
And as Tone mentioned (I forgot to, sorry!:mbrasd: ) you do need to replace the filter in the process.
i love my mighty vac, its the best $30 ive ever spent on a tool.Its a hand held vacuum pump with a vac gauge and varoius hose attachments for syphoning fluids and even can be used as a transfer pump. makes flushing the brake system a snap, and a ton of other uses, including testing the vacuum hoses and all that.. ive even heard of people using it to test the cooling sytem (including one who collapsed his radiator accidentally in the process, so ive shyed away from that particular use.)
Ive decided im going to pay someone to flush my tranny correctly, but the rest is me, my mighty vac, and mobil one :D
I was under the impression they do a reverse flush (atleast where I go) that push debris out of the filter, via the tranny cooler, thus flushing the whole system... thats what it looked like to me-
Regardless of what brand fluids you use in your tranny...
I was looking around on Amsoil's site just now and I found this:

It's actually some sort of Tech Service Bulletin and it explains the "flush and fill" without removing the pan.
This is right in line with what Tone and some of the other guys have said!

Sorry,I cheated...we have the machine at work. Filter change is vital, after 20 or 30000. Simply draining it, only got 4.5qts. out.
Joe....real easy. Take your time, follow the steps, don't break out the beer an' such till putting the pan back on. (Step#13) they left that one out.

Personal opinion...... better. I never liked the idea of forcing gunk and the little metal bits out of the sludge and filter, back thru the system. Some is bound to end up where you don't want it. Crack it open, everything comes out the bottom, and everything gets as clean as you wish. Hint; when we do a customers car,it's strictly flush an' fill... When I do boss' 35 Ford Cabriolet (5.0 swap) or any of his toys, ALWAYS crack, clean, an' refill with synth. :cool!: :cool!: :cool!:

Tranny capacity is 9.1 quarts for our flavor of the 4L30E, which does not include the torque converter, lines or cooler. So 12 should be about right.
