Oil Drain Valve
Just came across this oil drain valve (see link below) while playing on the net and am thinking of getting it but thought I would see if any of my fellow VXers had an opinion on it. About the only bad thing I could see is if some one new you had it and wanted to mess with you they could drain your oil easily. But then again it's not that hard with a wrench. Any thoughts or has anyone put one on?

I've had one of those (a similar product). It's best if it is hiding behind a skidplate (as it was on my GC). It sticks out about 1.25", and I was always afraid that a rock was going to take it out. On the other hand, it was nice to not have to worry about stripping threads or getting hot oil splashed down your arm with every old fashoined oil change. I'd definately do one on the VX.

Just ordered one from MY-TEC Sales Inc. PH# 404-505-0163 (in Atlanta GA) cost was $19.92 plus shipping. I should have it in a couple of days. I ordered part # F-106N hope it fits will post when I get it installed.

I've got the Fumoto installed on both VX's and the Trooper. Excellent product and you'd have other problems if something broke it.

I think the Fram oil drain thingy is the best.

i would be afraid of hitting on something when wheelin and breaking it. i have some dents in the oil pan already so i know it would be possible. shawn

..Like you said; all it would take would be some smart little *** to pull the plug on your motor.
Other than that it's a fantastic idea...I'm going to check it out too.

The dealer may claim that installation of this drain plug led to excessive oil consumption and subsequent bearing failure.
Take it off before you take it in ;)

Not if you replace it with the stocker b4 the dealer sees it :)

If their website is telling the truth, the dealer can't say a thing...

Folks, keep in mind for the event some trickster dumps your oil that if you don't notice the 5-quart puddle under your truck you should notice the oil warning lamp staying on. If you miss those two things, well, you probably deserve the rest. :p
NOTE: The nice thing about the Fumoto valve is that you can also safety-wire it in the closed position if you desire.

nothing ever gets close to hitting my oil pan, much less the bolt...as I have the diamond plate steel skidplate. and with the fram oil drain it has a protective screw on cover and also you have to have the cover removed and the hose screwed on which releases the oil.

Spazz, if you lose or misplace the 2nd piece to that Fram get-up can you still drain the oil?

Is the 106N the correct size?
