So should I go this route?

No real reason to just tired of the silver. Not real fond of many other colors other than OD green.... Hey I could go that way too.

Hmm... I like glossy paint. Yellow looks pretty good on the VX, in my opinion...
I agree the Yellow looks nice but I would rather buy a Yellow as our second VX and make mine how I want it.
I think you'll get tired of flat black pretty quick. With that said, it's your rig. If flat black makes you happy, go for it!
Peace.

Olive drab in FLAT!
mmmmmmmm :p
ive always thought about a deep dark blue metallic, if thats what its called, dark like dragon green, foxfire red, bluewhale finpit blue, i dont know, im just real partial to blue tones, it would defenatly be different.
oh well, just my .02
durrrrr, i forgot to look at what the poll was:rolleyes: hey, im tired, running on little sleep, and little healthy food......of THOSE choices, i would go with the drab, defenatly!!!
sorry, my bad.......ignore the man behind the curtain......
A textured desert camo khaki..........

Something like this maybe?
I like how it looks now... What about myself, I'm going to repaint my Proton. I tired with the color selection. Here are some pics done to see what to expect: http://pics.livejournal.com/uncle_asa/gallery/00012gaf :) My girlfriend insists on orange, I like light greens :) And I definetly wish to try glossy ;)
Looks like a cheap 70's sofa! ;puke2;Quote:

Hmmm, I vote Olive Drab since it is the closest thing to flat khaki. I would love to see a VX in flat, desert tan. Paint the cladding and all the plastic flat black and the rest flat desert khaki. But olive drab would look just as cool. I was actually just at the Ace Hardware in Lemmon Valley and they have flat, camo spray paint colors! Trust me, the thought crossed my mind. But I love my stealthy black wasteland VX.
And Clint, not that you want to sell, but I would say that if you paint, you had better be 100% ready to keep your VX for a long time. This is a heavily personalized mod, that will make resale value plummit. Just something to think about. Other than that, go for it! Just get ready for me to call upon you to take part in some upcoming movie projects I have in mind...I would love to have a fleet of wasteland VXes for a certain scene....oh yeah.

Huh-huh, can't wait to see whole baby painted! But... it is all not so fast :(
That actually sounds pretty cool.Quote:

I think flat military colors look good. With flat black, the flat black cladding might get lost. I like the contrast.
I'm with texvex. that sounds pretty sweet.
If I was going to go all out I would get about 4 colors: Black, dark gray, light gray, and a bluish gray, and do a urban camo pattern using hard angles. Take a look at old battleship camo or Swedish M90 camo for ideas.
Its off the wall, and would require some sketching and masking but would be one of a kind.
When I deploy I am always on the lookout for interesting camo patterns.
Yeah, camo is another area I could have started collecting, but I resisted. I always thought a vehicle in East German Raindrop pattern camo would be sweet, but it would be challenging to paint.

I have always wanted a CTS-V ALL CHROME like that.
Check these out just for S&Gs:
This is the Swedish M90 (I think it would look better in "grayscale:"

and this is the kriegsmarine "dazzle" pattern on old-style battleships:Colors commonly used in these multicolored "dazzle" patterns were: dark blue, medium blue, white, black, dark gray, light gray and olive green.

Then again there is the tumbler (prior to repainting) which also is worth a look:

That German raindrop pattern would be a hassle to do as well!
My personal thoughts (for my own VX) are if I ever get a serious enough dent I will likely go with the "dazzle" kriegsmarine pattern (might as well go "all the way" if it isnt the stock silver I have. The only caveat is I would likely do it in a satin color versus a true flat and leave the skirts black-ie "Hollywood camo."
Obviously I have way too much free time sitting here in Baqubah Iraq!
if you went go with some crazy camo, you should mount a dummy .50 cal machine gun or a fake turret of some kind up top. imagine driving that down main street! as if it doesnt get enough turned heads already.
I do like this one tho too. Cladding shiny and painted like the rest.

During a few moments of weakness (shame 'o' shame!) I've had some evil thoughts about change of color:
'member the ole mopars of the late 60's & early 70's...Lime Twist Green with dark cladding with the flat black hood insert...kind of barracudish. Maybe even a black strobe stripe swishing along the side below the side windows.
Then there is the negative, anti-matter opposite of the above....Black with Lime Twist Green cladding & hood insert either color. I got one of those VX Toys (Stomper) kind of painted like this with rally-inspired graphics.
I like desert camo too but specifically this (I have an RC buggy painted up like this!):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SKULL...ayphotohosting
Toyota Tacoma's have a color called "Speedway Blue" that I like alot.
I keep thinking about that darn sick lowered VX that Wormgod created with Bimanti's Batman red pinstriping on the snout and.......make it stop...please!
So how much does a paint job cost usually? I figure around 3g's for a good one but that is an ignorant guess since all I’ve ever heard of is Macco for like 200. I REALY want an ebony. My next concern would be finding a really good shop that would screw up the cladding.
Keep in mind I'm basically talking out my butt because I can’t afford to pay bills little lone get a paint job. All hypothetical.
I've always wondered that if you do a complete color change....wouldn't you want to change the color of the engine bay (ie firewall, fender wells, under hood, etc..), inner door & rockers, and what about inner fenders and behind cladding????? Now that's gotta be 'spensive! Plus, to do a really good job wouldn't you want to remove the engine and some other key underhood components too? Looking at my engine compartment I see alot of things in the way of repainting the firewall in particular.Quote:

So here is another thought.

i like the green, very ruggish, but keep the cladding black, thats my thought, but flat black, if it's shinny, i think it looses its offroad ruggish look, does not looks bad, just not a good combo all shinny i think. i plan on changing mine one day as well, but in too a very bright white with a little bluish tint in the sun, thats what i want, still not sure, maybe you should try that ;).
Never been a great fan of painting the cladding tbh - it takes away a lot of the character of the VX.
I would have liked one of the burgundy ones or the dragone green. Khaki might be interesting but I wouldn't go cammo - you want folk to see the distinctive lines, don't you?
Black always looks good - you could always go for black with a metal fleck incorporated into it. I saw an NSX at a Jap car sow recently that was black with a gold fleck. Looked stunning! Might not be wonderfully practical off road though :-(

How about snow camo.. would look good this time of year
