Mechanics please respond is this normal? Pics.....

Ok please tell me that this is not normal, this photo is from under the VX looking at the area just to the passenger side of the oil pan, I believe that is the flywheel, clear as day exposed to the elements, this is not normal right? I think the Aamco guys forgot to put the dust cover back on right? Am I crazy?

What do you think about this loose tube located just above the exhaust pipe directly behind the trans? Does it need to attach to something? I have attached a photo of the tip and where it attachs to something, any ideas? Did the Aamco guys just forget to attach this? Would this be a reason my cruise control is now not responding at all?

Ah and here once again is the little trans fluid cooling line that has sprung a leak for the 3rd time, how awesome. Could this be because Amaco is not flushing the lines after working on the trans and it is clogging up causing pressure to break this part time and time again?

As soon as this latest batch of snow melts :sighwgray (another 1-2" last night), I'll give it a look.

I've been under many cars, trucks, vans and SUV's and I've noticed that the flywheel is quite commonly expossed like that.
I dont know if the VX has something covering the area but like I said, I see that alot.
maybe someone more knowledgeable with the VX will chime in.

I just crawled under my VX and there definitely is a dust cover over that area. I tried to take a picture, but it was just too tight to see through the view finder. Got a nice picture of the cross member though.

There is only one rubber line in that area on mine, and it is connected to the tranny, as pictures in the second shot. Not sure what the other one is.

Maybe they need to replace that rubber line. If it's split or cracked the hose clamp won't contain the pressure.

Yeah I was under the impression that they have replaced that trans fluid hose 2 times now, and it still is leaking as you can see.

Both of the pics of the mysterious unconnected hose around the trans, are pictures of the same hose, are you saying that this one hose pictured is connected to your tranny somewhere other then pictured?

Thanks so much for crawling under the VX and confirming the dust cover for me!!!!! I really appreicate it a lot! I now can let them know they did something else completely wrong and need to fix it asap, along with all the other things they supposedly arleady fixed. Thanks again.

Sorry, I thought it was two different hoses. It looks to me like that hose coming from the top of the tranny connects to another hose through a coupler just behind the engine. I've got skinny arms and small hands and I couldn't fit my hand up in that area to see (feel) where it went, so they probably couldn't reach the connection after they re-installed the tranny. The hose does go up behind the engine somewhere, but I couldn't see where it came out on top.

I pulled my VX up on some ramps and took a few shots from underneath where the cover is missing. You can clearly see (as much as a 10-year old digital camera will allow) the cover as well as a clamp for one of the cooler lines.

If the cooler lines and clamps are good, your cooler may be clogged. Maybe try disconnecting both lines and shoot some compressed air through the cooler. I've done this with a heater core and seen some nasty stuff come out.

Hey LittleBeast (or anyone else), was this particular trans coolant line picture and post ever answered or what was the cause/problem? Just curious, I have the same exact leak that seems to be coming from the left trans coolant line at the point where the rubber tube meets the metal pipe (under the radiator). Only had a trans flush/fill about three years ago but never had this leak until just now. I know they tapped into those pipes when the shop did the flush/fill but that was a long time ago. The OEM spring fittings aren't the greatest but I can't seem to figure why or how it would leak when I get under there and see no real signs of breakage or anything suspect. I put a screw type fitting on there till I get a professional opinion. The leak is strange but would like to know! It is ATF fluid. Anyone ever see this or know?

Hate to reopen a dead thread, but did anyone have a part number for the dust cover??? I just bought a VX and I noticed mine is missing too??? as far as the tranny cooler lines, does anyone have a good fix??? mine are leaking as well. thanx in advance

For part #s, download the Isuzu Parts Manual from te "Download" section, on the left side of Home page.


Two good search engine type sites for used parts are:

• myisuzuparts.com
• car-parts.com

They search many salvage yards across the country, and provide contact info so you can call them.

FYI myisuzuparts.com went away several months ago. The guy that ran it let the domain expire. Some of the guys on the planet contacted him to see about getting rights to it and he wasnt interested.

dang, my bad. haven't been on the site for a while. Too bad, I liked their format better than car-part.com. Thanks Dave for mentioning it.

isuzuparts.com is a good one as well. It is based out of the Seattle area. I got my window regulator,ABS sensor wheel, and a bunch of random other things from them.
