I was getting tired of the retro looking automatic pad so I had to change it up some. Note that not only does it tell you what gear your in by the stick it also tells you on your dash so why have it in two places, so now that has been fixed

Looks good, Could even perhaps be mistaken for a manual.
did the old auto thing just screw off and that gear knob slide on ? whats happened to the lock thing so it cant be pushed into reverse from N without pushing the button

I like the looks of that. Reminds me of the old slap stick shifters in Buicks.

Yes the old shift knob did just screw off and the new one slid on
I have it set up so all you do is push down on the knob to get it to shift out of gear I'm sure thats the way etlsport has his set up
The boot I used was the factory boot from the 4X4 side and I just set it over the automatic plate

someone else is going to drive your car
blasphemous!!! nobody else is allowed to drive my VX! haha and if they did, it would be someone close to me whos ridden in it before and knows how it works
haha.. my old house was on a STEEP hill so the driveway in the "flat" area was still at like a 5º angle

I like it. I never use the gear location stuff at the base of the shifter. I take that back, I do use it to hold my remote for the radio.

what happens when you go to a tire shop or something? You tell them that they must break their insurance policies and let you pull it in?

i have actually had to let a couple of folks drive my VX.. Spike came by my shop for an alignment, but his tie rod ends were frozen so it took a long time, i let him take my VX to grab some food.. also in Philly theres very few places you can park that you dont have to leave your keys so once a lot attendant drove my VX.. was a big mistake.. he apparently couldnt figure it out, pulled the transfer case into the "neutral" (just between gears) and let it roll down the parking garage.. also had suzy at an isuzu dealer once early in our relationship (lol) for ABS diagnostics and re-packed hub bearings
yea its pretty great working there, im looking for an office job now, but im pretty sure ill continue working there as a tech maybe 1 day a week just for the access to the lifts and knowledge of the other mechanics...
yea without a doubt i would help you out.. im afraid it would cost you a little more than 60 to get to my shop though.
mount/balance is expensive.. much more than i thought.. typical at my shop would be like 8 for mount, 11 for balance per tire/wheel, and goes up from there on low profile or runflats

ya, its kinda rediculous.
you dont think i could drive my runner out there and back for $60 ;)
wish i could figure out how to do it by myself. but it probably wouldnt be worth the $60 in effort.
