Somebody really should go buy all this stuff just for the rear door. Looks like he's got the entire rear door, front bumper (not cladding), steering wheel and column (any overseas members want it?), stock air box, rear cargo mat, etc.

I bought one of those Rodeo fog switches from that guy on eBay earlier this year.
...
However, it is NOT a direct fit for our dash or the triple switch bezel. It's for a '98+ Rodeo and we need a '97 or earlier, but they never had a fog switch at that time.
Our switches have a notch in the upper left corner and our dash and bezel have plastic in that corner. The Rodeo switch is square in that corner. I cut out the corner plastic in the bezel to test fit and it still was not quite right. It just did not fit 100% snug and I think the depth or something was not right also. It didn't sit the same way as other VX switches. I was not happy with it at all. Some may find it to be okay, but I wanted something with a perfect fit like our VX switches.
Just wanted to revisit this quick... I just mounted an '04 Axiom fog switch in the fuzzy bezel with no problem. Did take several minutes of Dremel work however, and since it's a tight fit the back of the bezel looks like it went through a meat grinder. On the other hand the switch sits perfectly flush with the blank/tailgate switches, does not move when depressed, and you can't see any of the Dremel carnage from the front.
I found that you need to cut the corner piece but also grind down the plastic "lip" that adjoins the corner. Shaving that piece down just a hair (maybe 1 mm) allows the metal retaining clip to slide all the way through and lock.
So for anybody worried about making these switches fit, don't be!

I am not sure what this is all about, I just went out to the truck, popped out a blank, and the switch went in just fine? I am thinking of removing the useless blinking red light and adding this switch in that location. Not sure what I am gonna hook up though, maybe roof lights?

The install should take about 2 minutes. Our hose is just squeeze clamped on . My question would be why? Our vent hose comes out way up in the engine bay, and if that is not far enough for you, just add some more hose, you could take it all they way to the roof if you wanted:)

Talked to this seller today (same guy MH mentioned above).
I bought the roof rack and the driver's interior door handle.
The VX in the yard is really complete with NO impact. LOTS OF GOOD STUFF!!
Doesn't know what's wrong with it.
(I thought maybe it was a blown engine, but he just didn't know).
He mentioned someone already inquired about the rear door, so that may end up already sold.
He seemed like a decent guy. Was really interested in getting familiar with the forum. He really likes the VX and wants to get one for himself. I told him I'd post his contact info here. The ebay listing says SC, but his phone number is NY. I think the yard is actually in SC, not sure, since I couldn't find it on the web, and forgot to ask.
*** He went away TODAY for the holiday, back on Monday. Asked folks to call him next week for parts. ***

vt_maverick
01/04/2011, 09:12 AM
His prices on all the small stuff look very fair to me. I think I remember paying about that much when I bought my hitch from Tone directly. The bumper may be a bit overpriced as Mile High noted above, but I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on the hitch.
Just my $.02.
EDIT: Install difficulty depends on how adept you are in the mechanical arts. My understanding (I paid someone to do it) is that you need to remove and cut the bumper, drill 2-4 new holes for the bolts, cut a section out of the bumper reinforcement, and then reattach the cladding. Not too bad, but again it depends on your skill level and what tools you already have at your disposal.

I think the drilling through to the 2nd tier of vertical steel was fairly dicey to get it perfectly aligned with the front piece.

T4B maybe could answer that. The VX isn't even rated to tow anything. Most just tow smaller/lighter items like jet skis, cargo boxes, small/mini utility trailers.
I chose not to get the metal on the sides to hook up safety chains cuz I'm not going to tow anything like that.

Only you can decide on the price...it's more than I paid for mine.
I installed mine in about 3 hours. Worst part is taking off the cladding.
Make sure you measure twice and drill once so that the holes line up with the exisiting holes in the frame.

Just an FYI, but you may have already read about the brakes. The OEMs last an incredibly long time...many have gone 80k - 100k on them. I think they're ceramic IIRC. Oddly, some wear out the rear before the front...usually it's the opposite of course.
I'm at 75k on original OEMs, got 30% remaining on front, 50% on rear. :_thinking
Many recommend replacing with OEM pads since they're so good. They're pricey but apparently worth it. Also, many get the stainless brake lines (from Indy4x) and report improved braking performance.

Mile High, IMO, not sure you can count yours in since your seller apparently just really wanted to move it & sold it for really really low. They sold for around $150 when new.
Dub didn't cut the bumper reinforcement...but you do, of course have to cut your cladding. Larry, jump in here with details!
Yah, the bumper reenforcement needs to be cut, you might be thinking of something else...:smilewink
The bumper reenforcement is that tubular gizmo that bolts to the body, & also is where the lower cladding bolts fasten.
The center section gets enough material removed from the lower run, for the receiver to pass through that plane of being...:yesgray:

They are a weak link, but not total junk. Some of us are still using the stock system for over ten years. My stock CD changer worked perfect for 2.5 years, then jammed, and I got it replaced under warranty. Since that time, I only use one disc at a time to reduce the workload and chance of problems. It's worked great for eight years now.
You can search for a new or used unit-
Isuzu part # 2-90101-826-0.
GM part # 97720069.
Fujitsu Ten Limited part # 113001-5070C151. They made the unit.
Getting a used one from a private owner is very risky. It may have been abused and will not work at all or will not work for long. Some are willing to give it away for just the cost of shipping. Many of the companies selling refurbished units are not trustworthy.
There have been posts about a single disc direct fit plug n' play unit for Isuzu's. However, no one has tried that route yet. Search for 'Isuzu single disc cd player'.
Here's an option, but beware. Research the company. You may get a beautiful new unit that fits and works perfect, or you could get a beat up refurbished player that doesn't even fit.
http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-91-61-isuzu-indash-single-cd-player-1998-to-2003.aspx (http://www.oemautosound.com/pc-91-61-isuzu-indash-single-cd-player-1998-to-2003.aspx)
That's a nice price, if it's new and the wire harness matches ours and it mounts the same. Again, I don't recall anyone trying this, so it's a gamble.

So losing the changer component of a CD changer = working great? Low standards my friend... ;)

01/06/2011, 01:38 PM
I'm not really losing the changer, it still works great 'cuz I vary the slot I put the one disc in. I can only play one disc at a time even with six in there. It just takes seconds to eject and load another disc. I still have the full changer function if I choose to use it. I choose not to, trying to avoid trouble, which I seem to have done nicely for eight years. And I use it a lot, except during very cold weather. Again, trying to avoid trouble.
My six disc CD changer works great for eight years now. :yesy:
After I wrote that last sentence it hit me. In the last eight years a whole lotta people, including myself, have had a whole lotta problems with lots of stuff other than the CD changer, so I guess it really can't be called a weak link after all. There's a bunch of stuff that seems to be a lot weaker than the CD changer. :_confused

Sounds like a real prick... doesn't he know he could just restrict his "Ships To" list to US only if he doesn't want to deal with international buyers?
Just an update from my side. As I really need these parts, I decided to re bid and changed the delivery address to one in the US, and guess what, I managed to successfully bid on the parts. :smilewink I guess he is not such a bad guy after all.

We do share a good amount of mechanicals with the Trooper (although I'm not sure off the top of my head how much of it is with the year models you posted) but probably not enough to make it worth buying one as a parts truck, unless of course it has a low mileage working engine that you need.

Have you searched at all?
In vt_mav's post #556 in this thread, just from yesterday, had a pair listed on ebay. Auctions ended, but doesn't appear they sold...so if I were you, I'd send him a message thru ebay and see if they're sold. That was a very reasonable price, but one does have a gouge/scratch.
Also, consider calling Merlin, I'm not sure if they're still available or not.
If you pick up just one good one, then chances are pretty good you'd be able to find another in a junk yard or thru some member here.

If I recall correctly, the fangs are sold as part of the front grill. They cannot be purchased separately.

I don't know if they're still available or sold separately or what. Here's the info for when you call, and the installation instructions.
