I've seen it on rare occasions. If the ground gets saturated like it often does in VA because of the clay, then the air temp drops suddenly (& drastically), the moisture in the ground hits the cold air & makes real purdy ice crystals all over the grass. Kinda makes the top layer of soil look like a frozen tar pit as well.Originally Posted by PK
