They don't recommend it because of the short wheel base more than likely. When towing heavy loads, it makes the VX more prone to jackknifing.
Otherwise, its just as good at towing as a 3.5L trooper.

As stated above the SWB makes handling a little tricky, but on the other hand it's amazing how much manuverability you'll have too.
Capacity is the same as the SWB Trooper: 5,000 lbs. capacity/500 lbs. tongue max.
Many here including myself have had no issues towing with the VX. You just have to be a little more aware with the short wheelbase.

Sorry to thread jack, but how about towing a small boat... I have not done it yet, but I really plan to. I still dont have the boat yet, and may actually just buy 2 jet ski's instead.
