NADA says its worth $15,450 retail.
Kelly Blue Book says its worth $13,270 retail.
Edmunds says its worth $10,288 retail.
This is probably part of the reason it's hard to define how much a VX is worth - even the supposed "authorities" estimates all differ greatly, making it hard for the buyer, seller, lender, dealer, insurance company, DMV, and anyone else involved to agree on a "book value".
Unfortunately knowing if you got a good deal is not cut and dry. I'd say if you paid less than $15k and it's in excellent mechanical condition and you love the truck, you got a good deal. Sure, there are probably VX's out there to be had for $8k, $7k, maybe less, but the conditions also vary quite a bit, and I'd rather have a fairly low mileage VX that I know was maintained properly.
There are also quite a few highly modified VXes out there (like mine
) that are worth far more to the owner who shelled out for all the parts than they would ever recoup in a sale. If I asked blue book plus 1/2 of what I paid for all of my accessories I'd probably have a $30k VX.
