Dash Cam mount with quick release...
OK, my latest mod:
This was a holy pain in the @ss to do. I wanted a permanent mount that uses a quick release tripod head, so I hacked up a cheap Samsonite tripod with quick release head I got for $7.99.
Problem #1: The VX's windshield is at a pretty sharp angle, making it difficult for me to fit my huge Panasonic camcorder in this spot without hitting the windshield.
Problem #2: The dash bezel above the radio DIN screws into this metal bracket, which was conveniently held in place by 4 screws from the inside of the dash (meaning I had to feel around and insert a small Phillips head screw driver backwards and blindly unthread these screws to get the metal plate out, also I dropped one of these screws in the dash and spent like 3 hours trying to find it...its still in there somewhere)
Problem #3: I didn't really want to drill a hole in my dash, but my crazy @ss did it anyway.
Problem #4: I wanted to make it so I could attach several different mounts, but this proved to be super difficult with the tools I have. Long story short, I have been in my dash so many times over the last week, I could take it apart and put back together blindfolded with no problem.
All in all, it is done and works pretty good. It didn't work out as well as I wanted it too, but it works.
