this thing happened to me a couple a days ago. Guy mail me a "check" on $6000 for my dad's old car ( which is $2000). He was like: take your part and send rest of the money here and there for shipping. I was lucky that I wanted cash in bank so they realize that all that was SCAM. If I just deposit check on my account I would lose car and $6k. (because when bank find out that check is fake they take your money).
There is one more thing that happened to me just the other day.
Guy is selling a 2003 BMW X5 (worth $33000) for $17500. He "lost" his job etc.. He doesen't even have a phone so he e-mail to me.
And he wants $8500 up front for car before he even show me this car.
Apparently, car is locked in garage in Phoenix,AZ, he lives in New Jersey, and he place add in Alaskan newspaper.
Sounds good to be true huh?

to start with, he used buy it now, and then is telling me he is interested??
so anyway, i call the number that is posted, and its a guy in florida, (bidder is from mississippi, maybe} said that he has gotten several calls about auctions that he has not had anything to do with. used whitepages.com to do reverse address lookup, goes to a concrete finishing company, and the number listed is a fax. errrrr. bad thing is, my surgury is in two weeks, i could use the cash, had several people looking to bid,(the listing was for a 7 day auction, and this idiot ended it after a day) and now i cant relist it for 14 days, or until the unpaid item dispute kicks in. talk about going from one extreme to another, happy that i sold the porsche, to having an even worse headache because this fool.
i dont even know what makes sense anymore.
RANT OVER.
watch out, no matter where you are.
oh, by the way, my "cousin in law" works for the indiana attorny general....i cant wait to give him the detals on this. Steve carter, the attorny gen. for indiana is a hater of this kind of stuff. he was instrimental in the "no call list"
It's one thing when these guys send you annoying e-mails, it's another thing entirely when they screw up your eBay sales with their scams. I hope they catch that guy, or eBay comes up with a better scheme to prevent that from happening.

yea.. a buddy of mine just listed an alienware laptop on ebay starting at 3400.. he got a bid of 4500 within hours, then an email from the bidder saying oh i wanted to bid 3500, can you send me the extra 1000 in the mail? of course he didnt, but nobody was going to bid that high so it pretty well screwed the auction.. not to mention the annoying emails from people wanting him to take it off ebay and mail it to nigeria... hes still got it if someones interested :bgwg:
The same scam is going on in Roomates.com TOO FUNNY!
