This is why. "Products that contain a high amount of silicone can create havoc with a paint and body shop. If an automobile goes in for paint and body work, and the paint has been treated with a high ratio of silicone sealant, it will be very difficult for the new paint to adhere to the surface. Silicone acts as a lubricant to repel moisture and is very difficult to wash off. This is why most good quality body shops always sand the paint prior to repainting the vehicle for better paint adhesion." So all they have to do is sand prior to painting and all is well.
