If you have that option, driving it back isn't bad. BUT - when buying a vehicle, you are unfamiliar with it and it's potential problems. I know I'd hate to find out that the fuel pump is on the fritz 800 miles from home. I also didn't have 2-3 days to kill, plus the cost of a flight (which could be $200-400 right there!) plus the cost of gas ($150 in my case) plus putting 1,500 miles on my truck. So... for $700 I had my truck in 5 days. For $350 and having to fly out there and drive for 3 days I could have done it myself. In my case, much more convenient to have it transported!
When I bought my boat last summer from Texas, we bit the bullet and made the drive. Drove nonstop from Denver to Galveston, picked up the boat, and drove straight back. My butt still hurts and I have nightmares from all of the hallucinations from the long drive and lack of sleep![]()
