I may be totally wrong here, but wouldn't any of the Isuzu 3.5L engines pretty much have the same alternator?

you might as well buy an 160 amp alternator through Rickster for WAY under what the dealer wants. Tell them you need the same part number for the Trooper and see if that brings the price down. But, like Tone said...$130 at most auto parts stores just trade your core in too.
Just keep all the bracketry off of the old one to put onto the new/rebuilt one you wind up getting.
