    Vx-4?

Alright, I may be losing my mind -please let's not comment on it here.

The wife refuses to part with the Dragon as the time for a little Beach (son-of-a-Beach?) approaches. She wants a 4-door VehiCROSS.

I (we) know that one of these existed -the VX-4. From the looks of the interior, it was a non-running prototype. However, if a VW Bug can be stretched into a limo, a VX can be stretched into a Trooper-length 4 door.

Who built to prototype for the VX-4? I want the back doors.

    Thumbs up

Next best thing: 2004 Isuzu Axiom 3.5DI. They're blowing the last ones out the door just like they did with the last VX's.
Over 20 years of Isuzu enjoyment...

This would be an aggressive project. The best way I can think of to get rear doors would be to find some junked front doors and then modify them to become rear doors. What might help would be to find some rear doors that could work and use the VX door skin with modification to fit the look of the VX. That way you'd already have the window and latch part worked out. Also try to find a pillar that would work between the doors so you don't have to custom make them.

This is a project that can be accomplished but it will take some advance fabrication and welding skills. Good luck if you take this on. That would be really cool to see.

This is good thinking. I really need another VX shell to pull this off.

Our doors could easily be halved, glass gut, window channel modified, to do some back doors. The roof and floor pan is a no-brainer. The mechanicals just require some part-stretching .
I have fairly decent welding/machining and fabrication skills -but this is WAY beyond my abilities. I'll likely farm this out to a pro.

I figure that even if I spend $12k on the modification (paying to have it done), I'll still be better off than selling a VX, eating the depreciation, and buying a new vehicle (it's going to be a V70 or an XC70 if it's going to be anything).
Plus, the wife will have the coolest soccer-mom vehicle going.

I'm in no way saying that this is GOING to happen -I'm just throwing out thoughts and hoping some good ideas bounce back.

Actually, what you want is an Axiom. Why? Because you'll need the chassis for the longer wheelbase, since I'm pretty sure you don't want to build another chassis. Plus the Axiom already has the correct powertrain. And the VX-4 and Axiom have basically the same interior, so all you really need to do is get some VX sheet metal onto a de-skinned Axiom and re-engineer the rear door. That's a bunch simpler, 'cause that's almost the reverse of how Isuzu got to the Axiom from the VX-4.

    Vx-4

Well I thought I would post my thoughts, I own a Vehicross and my wife hates it, I have too boys who and my first born is 2 and he loves it, although its tough getting in and out, But my wife loves her Axiom and I love it to. She wanted CRV and I was not going for that, But once I got her looking at the Axiom it was all over but the buying. Go for it.
