I played Call of Duty 2 the other day on a decent size plasma display, it looks very very nice.
Though I'm still going to wait until next year when the price will be lowered. Still have to finish doom 3 and half life 2...
You can keep track of the pre-order saga here:

More units were released at CircuitCity.com today at 2pm, but I think they are gone now.
In all honesty, we have our QA dept here testing our game with the 360 on regular analog tvs. No bells and whistles. It doesnt look horrible, but it doesnt look great either. Its no worse than what the Xbox looks like on a regualr tv anyways. It's all in the pretty tricks we developers put into the game that sets it apart from the XBox anyways.
On an HDTV/plasma though, you get bumped to 1080i and it's simply awesome. The XBox has an aftermarket component cable that you can use unstead of the RCA cable it ships with, but there are only a handful of game that are offered in 720-1080. I have yet to see a game on the 360 that isnt offered in 1080i though.
I "should" have my 360 by next Mon or Tues since developers were given an opportunity to get them directly from MS for a much cheaper price. We will see if they actually get here though. Knowing MS, we wont have them until Easter '06.

How do ya think the 360 will compare to the PS-3???
2001 Ironman Daily Driver... 3.5" suspension lift (OME912 springs and 1" spring spacer), ball joint flip, 1.5" front diff. drop, 33"x12.5 TrXus MT, 16x10 Eagle Alloy rims, Interceptor, PV muffler, K&N air filter, Alpine Supercharger, Bilstein shocks, and some trimming.
2000 Ironman Project LS-1 VX... very slow progress but someday....... ohhhhh someday......
yeah, isn't the ps3 supposed to be better?
Steve
uhm
no.
2000 Black VX 105k
I'm actually holding out for the Playstation3. I believe it will be a better system, cell processor, 50GB blu-ray discs, HDMi outputs, I own about 50 PS2 games, etc.
The 360 is definatley impressive, I've played CoD2 and it looks great. I think it may have been rushed to market, but I guess we'll see. I did read a bit the other day about M$ pumping false shortage to increase interest/demand, I figure it's cause they already know it will be an outdone 'old' system sometime next year. Not a long life for a console...
Regardless, I wouldn't buy either till I upgrade my television. I've got my eye on a DLp. But like ISCE said, it's the peripherals that you have to worry about.
What do I think?
I think the PS3 is still a long ways away, so for now, The 360 will be the best, heh.
Seriously, Sony hasnt even sent us development kits, so I REALLY dont think they even know what they box will do. You can read this and that on the internet all you want, but until the actual developers get kits in, the hardware is only speculation. I do look forward to working with the PS3 though. I am a huge Sony fan and I hope they can stay on top of their empire in the industry.
Nintendo Revolution however.... what can I say. With that stupid as all hell controller gig they are going with, they may as well just give up and start making fishing rods.
