kinda the same.. i figure im getting around 200 miles a tank.. or mostly about 10 mpg... all city driving though so i am not sure if this is normal... even though it is seeming more and more like it is.

There's something wrong with that.Originally Posted by Mr.Quackers
Obviously, a lot of factors come in to play with gas milage but I'm getting at least 300 miles per tank before the light comes on. When I fill up, I still have a little over two gallons left. Considering we have a 22.5 gallon tank, 300 miles for 20 gallons seems to be pretty good for the VX![]()
Live Free or DIE!
I commute in rush hour traffic (25 miles in hour to hour and half) twice a day and I still get at least 300 miles to a tank. I usually fill up at around 310 miles and I've never had the fuel light come on. Generally takes just shy of 20 gals to fill. I've found that if I use super instead of regular it not only runs better, but I get a mile to mile and half more per gallon. Maybe Washington gas is better?![]()
If that rate of usage was ever true, you would be smelling gas.
I have had two gas leaks from cracked hoses (Supply and return) under the EGR valve at 44k mi.I have also had the jumping gas meter condition so popular with the VX. There was a time in 2003-2004 when the oil refiners left alot of sulfur in the gas which formed H2SO4 and ate a little of the sender wires. This made the national news. I do not think anyone got a refund. This was said to be localized in the south, but mine failed at just that time. Since the oil companies are making so little now, we should not be suprised that they cheat a little in processing. Greed knows no bounds (If you have no recourse-of course.).

Are you lifted Mr Quakers? running larger tires? what mods have you done if any?
2001 Ironman Daily Driver... 3.5" suspension lift (OME912 springs and 1" spring spacer), ball joint flip, 1.5" front diff. drop, 33"x12.5 TrXus MT, 16x10 Eagle Alloy rims, Interceptor, PV muffler, K&N air filter, Alpine Supercharger, Bilstein shocks, and some trimming.
2000 Ironman Project LS-1 VX... very slow progress but someday....... ohhhhh someday......
I got the vx not but maybe 3 months ago. so as far as mods i have not done any yet other than professionally installing the Pv muffler. i got it with P255/70 r16 yoko tires on 15" eagle alloy rims. (not really sure what that means but i got it off the tire) as far as a lift goes, neither previous owners have told me that they have lifted it so as far as i know, it is not lifted. (anyways of quickly checking?) the only other thing that i could possibly think of if it does have a roof rack on it. it has been taken care of very well and has not missed any scheduled maint. so.. maybe something might be wrong with the engine?
Are you dividing miles traveled (use trip odo.) by gallons reqd. to fill tank ?
Or are you trusting your gas gauge...I know these gauges man...they can't be trusted!!!![]()

Also, with larger tires, you won't register true mileage on the odo...larger than stock diameter = less revolutions per mile. Search "tire calc." for clarification.
