My factory battery was corroding everything. So I had the battery tray replaced and switch to a red top Optima. Not a problem since.

The factory battery was a Panasonic, and died a few months after I bought the VX.

Mine had a Furukawa Hi Dash. (Yeah, I never heard of them either.) It just died last week. Replaced with a Diehard.

Well, I Guess I'm trying to see if more than 1 type was distributed as my Yuasa Has a sticker on it that says:

    Distr. by American Isuzu Motors

    Whittier Ca.

And, when they warrantied my battery in the Ebony, they replaced it with a Delco. That was from M'lady Isuzu In Cary, Illinois.

That dealer sold about the last 100 or more of the final, new 2001 models, that were available in the country.

Most came with a Panasonic brand battery, the two I owned (Still have one) did. Mine just gave up due to a shorted cell (5 years) and I replaced it with an Optima red top.

Mine also came with the Panasonic, but I replaced it with a Optima Red Top after when the Panasonic battery was about 2 1/2 yrs old, started to lag when trying to start it so I replaced before it totally died.

    .....

mine came with some Japanese named brand, but didn't last long. One of my ex girlfriends, didn't listen when I said never touch or place anything on the battery. My VX was in the dealers shop for a month and a half so I kept the battery so it wouldn't dry rot. So, she placed a popcorn tin directly on top completing the positive and negetive terminals...sparks went flying... she arc welded and melted a whole in the tin, turning a space black the size of a softball and the terminals were melted and mishapen beyond reconition.

So, she bought me an Optima Redtop(the lower power one) which I replaced for the higher powered one and use for the starting battery. Then I placed a Yellow Top in place of the air box to run the winch, audio amp, air compressor and rock lights.
