Halfway between Daytona and Orlando, we have Deltona and Deland. Deltona appears to be a mixing of the words Deland and Daytona, but then Deland may be a mix of Deltona and Orlando. Someone must have been flexing their brain to come up with those. LOL!
Bong Recreational Park, Wisconsin
Oh yeah? Well if you want to include parks and stuff, about halfway between here and St. Augustine we have Faver Dykes State Park! :-)

I once passed the "Full House Bar and Grill". The sign said below the name, "Liquor in the front, poker in the rear".
Just say it out loud, you will get it.
How about
Bad Axe, Michigan
Located exactly half way between Fairbanks and Nenana in interior Alaska is:
"Skinny Dick's Halfway Inn" -Say THAT outloud.
I bought a bottle opener from there.
Dang... thats quite the list of names... when I read the thread title, I was going to mention two... both of which you mentioned! lol Peculiar (rumored to have started as a town with no name, which was quite Peculiar) and Tightwad (no clue, just different)! There are definitely some strange town names in this country. I wonder if other countries have the same "problem"?

Down at The Lake of the Ozarks in southern Missouri, there is a place called Big Dicks Halfway Inn... their signature thing there is "Shooting the minnow"... you pop a minnow (live) and chase it with a shot of whatever makes ya happy... actually, I think we dropped the minnow in the shot and then shot it... anyway... Like he said, say Big Dicks Halfway Inn out loud and people stop... lmaoOriginally Posted by mbeach
