hey transio, that is the perfect scale of wheel and tire for the VX... looks really sharp! if you don't mind me asking, how much did the 18's run? Is the offset the reason for the trimming? or are the tires a bit thick?
Thanks,

Hey, thanks, guys!
Mercer, we definitely gotta go show off the VXes.
techno, the wheels were about $175 each (for polished finish), iirc. The excessive trimming is primarily because the offset is +2mm - protruding about 1.5" from the stock wheels (+38mm). Still, the protrusion adds to the look, giving the VX a nice bulldog stance.
Steve
you've got me tempted, lol. i don't want to bite your rhymes though, he he. I have always thought the VX looks REALLY good with that wide stance, i just hate the idea of cutting my baby!
thanks again for the info!

Hey Transio, can you post some close up pics of the cladding trim you had to do? I am thinking of getting some tires that size but I would like to see the amount of cladding trimmed before I fork over the cash.
Looks good! Was wondering what was going on with the wheels after the whole issue with the others and the center-bore. Glad to see you finally worked it all out.
Say, were you in Lakeland the other day? Just wondering 'cause I saw a Proton rollin' through town.
PM me if you've still got the offroad set up for grabs, I may just come down and snag 'em.![]()

Veritech, the amount of trimming you have to do varies based upon the offset of the wheels you pick, and even the brand of tires you use. Offset ishow far the wheels are set in from the centerline, so the higher the offset, the less trimming you should have to do. Most wide RWD wheels, unfortunately, have a negative offset, which means they stick out. These wheels have about a -0- offset. Stock wheels are offset +38mm, which means they're inset 1.5". I'll try to get pics soon of how much I had to trim. I'm still rubbing slightly when turning onder compression, though.... so I have a little more to do
Joe, I still have the offroading wheels. They're about 50% worn (unevenly(, and out of balance, though. No good for road use. The wheels are in good shape, though. They would be great for rallyx, though, because they're pretty light. I had good acceleration with them. If you want them, they're yours for $100.
