I used our machining center, only took about 30 min. I opened it from 74mm to 108mm and cut it 9mm deep.Originally Posted by mbeach

I am trying to get an idea of what machine will work the best for opening up that bore -I might have to do it soon (not such a drastic amount though).
I'd feel more comfortable on a mill, but I'd have to rig up a jig to hold the wheel square on the vise. Big worries about scratching it.
It is a 3 axis mill. I pulled off the vises and used toe clamps to hold it to the table face down. I used tag board(thin stiff cardboard) under it so i would not scratch them, worked great no scratches. A lathe could work but i would be afraid of spinning such a larger object that fast and i woul not really have anywhere to grab.Originally Posted by mbeach
