Hello Everone!
I just jojned the fourm and would like to float a question about mufflers. I have a 2000 Ebony VX. A few months back I purchased a PV muffler ( actually 9 months) and have been quite irritated with the drone that it produces. I have added a resonator tip, but all that did was change the frequency of the drone to a higher rpm, now instead of a drone at 35 mph, I get the drone starting at 60 mph.![]()
The postings in the fourm suggest a number of options, what I am asking about is does anyone have a Borla muffler installed? And more importantly, does it have any drone? I am looking for a good muffler/tip combo that will give more powerand a thoaty sound without the drone.
I used to own a 67 El Camino with Flowmaster's, nice sound, but a bit too rumbly for my tastes.
Any suggestions?

and a thoaty sound without the drone.

It’s the Turbo part# 40658 and it sounds great. With the PV a lot of the time I did not want to punch the gas because of the sound but not so with the Borla. It has a much nicer sound that’s not irritating at any speed. It's a deeper more muffled sound but when you hit the gas it has a real nice rumble nice and smooth. I just got Magnaflow Catalytic Converters (from Car Sound) and it is a bit louder but still nothing like the PV I have yet to get it dynode but it feels great. I say go for the Borla I even think the quality is better than the PV. As for anyone else if you’re going to up your exhaust I'd go with Borla. Just my two cents.
maybe someday when I grow up.
