32000 pampered, rainfree, never in a parking lot, never driven by another human being, overwaxed, indoor storage, synthetic fluid, never used the wipers or squirter, never had the TOD do anything, gently driven, miles:bwgr: A bit sad isn't it.....but...it is still new
Daily driver & off road in Colorado & Moab summer after summer. 117,000![]()
VX's don't need no stinking mod's.
But they're sure fun!
141,345 daily driver, seldom washed unless you count when it rains. Haven't had any major issues. Have had to replace the EGR, MAF, and two O2 sensors (it seemed major during those times when it wasn't running, but were easy fixes with the help of all you forum experts)
Thanks by the way!
99 vx with almost 89000
In 2007 I had 50,000 now in 2010 70,500 still running well. Still mostly stock but added a roof rack, tinted the windows (the 130 degree summers required it), replaced the god awful radio/CD, Put new rims on her and kept maintainance up to date. In the past I had the TOD sensor issue as well as a troublesome rear axle seal leak.
Nope! I come from the "don't fix it, if it aint broken club". I should qualify that by saying that I did replace the fluid immediately after I bought her with Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. Same with my differencials. I do change the engine oil (Mobil 1 also) and filter every 4K miles. Heat and abuse kills a tranny, so can running it low on fluid. Its a closed system so no outside contaminents are introduced. If it gets hot the oil is designed to change color and will stink! Then a good idea to R&R the fluid but the damage has probably been done anyway by that time. Auto tranny's, engines, and people do wear out, it is going happen someday but I have to smile at the ole gal every morning for her faithful service...so when she breaks I will fix her.
BTW, I owned an Aamco Transmission shop in Huntington Park, Ca. from 1969 to 1974 when I sold it and got into the car wash biz. That is one messy oily business...
My Proton just hit 83k today! So far so good... she needs some love and affection but she is doing great! Minor issues... the parking brake light on the dash panel goes on and off as she pleases, the dimmer for the dash lights doen't work (it is stuck on the brightest setting), but that's about it so far. She is a rescue VX. She needed nearly immediate attention once I bought her. Never been lubed, never had tranny fluid changed
, didn't know when the last oil change was
, (when I bought her). But now she's all better!
And waiting for braided brake lines, skid plates, rock sliders and all sorts of other goodies. After the holidays of course... I spent too much money already.
