    Trans cooler....

I did a search, not much came up.

I'm thinking about putting in a trans cooler, been hearing good things about it and is somewhat cheap mod.

Anyone have one, what size to get, where to put it and know any info on where to find a good set up.

We have a trans cooler stock. Are you adding a 2nd one, or bypassing it for a bigger one?

Would it not be a part of the radiator?

ive noted it as well. When you get yout tranny fluids exchanged, the fittings that connect to are connected to the cooler....pretty sure.

    .......

what is being talked about here is an extra component(not stock on VX) that the transmission connects to intercepting the radiator to allow extra cooling that is mounted in a place with high air volume.it would look like a mini radiator.

    That's what I'm talking about.

I recall it being a seperate unit...Like a baby intercooler for turbos but much smaller

I don't recall seeing a seperate cooler either... if there is one, it's well hidden.

That being said, if the stock radiator has a seperate section used for tranny cooling, it should be sufficient for everyday driving. Unless you are doing off-roading or racing I would think keeping it stock is fine... unless you just feel like putting one on for peace of mind. That being said, I added one on to my Prelude (when I had it). It was an automatic "sport shift", and I liked to run it kinda hard.

The topic has been raised before, either here or Vmag. Depending on climate, you may need to plumb the cooler in series with the stocker (for colder areas) . They're rated by GVW and it's better to go a little larger than your highest expected GVW + any towed weight.

    Trans Cooler is Stock...

On the passenger side on the bottom of the radiator you will see where the transmision lines integrate with the radiator to cool the fluid. Next time I need to get under there I'll try to remember to snap a picture.

    Also,

Aux tranny coolers work better with air flowing over them. Theres not much of a grille area on the VX to mount a cooler without covering up much of the existing radiator
