    TOD Disconnect HOWTO

    Hi All,

    Yes, again, but this post is needed, cause not all of us are very challenged electrically...

    First of all, a big, huge "thank you" to vovkus !!!

    Today "we" implemented the scheme he proposed. ( "We" are in quotes, cause he was actually doing all the implementation )

    It worked! I mean all worked including the 50/50 mode. No error codes (yet) or any other problems...

    So, HERE IS THE TOD DISCONNECT HOWTO:

    Stuff you'll need:

    1. Switch (I got mine from http://www.allhyundaiisuzuparts.com/ ) and:

    (number is a Radio Shack Part Number)
    2750218 Relay (one)
    2701213 Fuse Holder
    2701081 10 Amp Fuses
    2710132 Two 10 OHM resistors
    2701804 Project Box to fit the RELAY and two OHM RESISTORS in.

    Add to this another automotive relay (almost any will work) for a 50/50 mode ("relay 1" on the scheme).

    I'm electrically ignorant...why the relays? Why not just the two switches and the 12v supply?

    Yes, even one three-mode switch with enough contact groups and proper amps.
    In the case of just two switches, the TOD controller can be fried if
    +12V will be connected on the TOD output (50/50 mode).
    So, we decided to use a relay to block any “bad” situation for TOD controller.

    I made a mistake on the
    Diagram

    1. Use 10 AMP fuse instead of 30 AMP.
    2. The "hot" wires (+12V) of all switches need to be connected to the +12 V source controlled by ignition switch.

    In the fuse box, inside, driver's side. We used a lighter fuse connector -- this way there will be no possibility to send +12v to the solenoid while the ignition is off.

    OK, stupid questions time.....

    1.When disconnecting the TOD, is it 2WD? If not, is it in full tourque(or TOD mode)?

    2. Is there more power(I'm guessing yes), do you find your self "doing burnouts" a lot?

    1. Yes, it's 2WD.
    2. I can't say that I feel more power. But I'm running on oversized tires...
