Thread: Axiom Wheels?

  1. #1

    Question Axiom Wheels?

Would 2001 axiom wheels with a 6 on 51/2 pattern and a positive offset fit my 99 VX? They are 17". If so any opinions on how they would look/handle compared to my stock 16's?

The offset should be the same for all the Isuzu trucks. That's a newer rim and might be different, but i'd guess the offset would to small to make any noticable difference.

Buy them and then get them chromed out ....BLING BLING

I don't suspect fitment would be a problem on the VX.

The 2002 Axiom wheels have slightly different, and nicer looking center caps that do not fit the earlier wheels.

Those Axiom center caps look different from the stock 16" wheels, but identical to the stock 18" wheels.

For 2003 they are offering them in vapor chrome. Wish they would have had them in 02 for my axiom.

Changing the subject a little ...

Speaking of Axiom's .... has anyone done the figuring yet (I just thought of it a second ago) to rechip a V-Cross with an Axiom motochip ?

Same engine, but an Axiom gets you 230hp over the V-Cross 215hp ... and the engines are the same pistons, cams, capacity, etc..

Just lettin my mind out of it's cage for a second ...

Won't work. Too many cal and hardware changes. The main one is the fly-by-wire that the axiom uses. I see no way to make it work. All the fueling is based off the etc sensors. Way too many changes. Sorry guys.

I recently purchased a set of Axiom wheels to use on my 2000 VX for winter wheels. The Axiom wheels have the measurement of 17X7, 6 lug on 5.5, offset +38mm. They are the same measurements as the VX. Mine came with the 18" chrome wheels.

When I looked at the Axiom wheels and the VX wheels I noticed some differences. One was that the screws that hold the caps on the Axiom wheels are recessed in whereas the VX wheels are not (I believe). The second thing is that there is what looks to be more machining around the backside of the VX wheel where the wheel mates with the hub. I don't know if this is because of the screw/bolts around the hub or not.

I did a test fit with one of the Axiom wheels on my VX and it looked like it cleared everything (caliper, etc) okay. The one thing I noticed with that was that it was a tight fit. There was little play with the bolt holes of the wheel and the wheel studs (there was much more of this with my VX wheels).

I ordered tires from Tire Rack for them and they should be here tomorrow or Friday. I'm then planning on having them mounted and balanced on Saturday. If you guys are still interested in this and want to see pics of the final product or pics on the difference between the two wheels let me know and I will try to post them if possible. Maybe someone can tell me if it really matters with some of the machining done on the VX wheels as opposed to the Axiom.

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow evening after I get off work and have more time to play with the wheels. I will hopefully be able to post some pics of the differences and trial fit of the wheels if my stupid computer works.

The Axiom wheels I have are silver and don't have the same *bling bling* as my VX 18's, but they look decent for winter.
