If I'm not mistaken, those are skid plates designed for the trooper (they bolt on the VX as well). Do a search for skid plate to find the threads.

Nope, not this year. I'm usaully there every year with TMP(Todd McFarlane Productions). I was planing on going to sign with Rob Zombie for the Nail book I'm working on(***plug***1st issue is out now), but I changed my mind...that place is nuts.

I've worked a bunch of shows last year with TMP, Super Bowl, SDCC. Al Simmons "AKA Spawn" and I are the only one's insured to drive the trucks and trailers and I get stuck driving.
It's fun, it's a chance to get out of the house and be a road dog for a few days, but after the third day I'm burnt out.

They got a new crew this year, but I think Al is going.

Yep, those are the Trooper skids. There are 3 of them. They are a dirrect bolt on. I got mine used from all hyndai isuzu for something like $70 to my door. I have a how to somewhere on here.

Yea, I poked around and saw one of the plates hangs very low off the front diff.

That "direct bolt on" comes off of what year Trooper?

That plate that hangs low protects the front drive shaft and one of the torsion bars. It is the only one I have hit and "reshaped" but it served its purpose and protected my shaft which would have been hit by a rather large boulder during a water crossing.

Yup, like some of the responses here say....those are 3 metal protector plates from the early model Isuzu Trooper, I think the 92-95 model year? I just ordered them from an Isuzu dealer, waited about 6 months because they are no longer in production until finally they surfaced somewhere in Japan and the dealer got a hold of them as they normally do when you bug them enough.

They fit on nicely without any modification however like some have said, the front plate does hang pretty low and kinda kills ground clearance. But anyways, they are a nice to have, not a need to have in my opinion and from what I've seen, they seem to come standard on the Japanese VX's....I think.

More I think about it, I don't need'm....I'm a street guy....but they are cool. If I found a good deal(like used ones) I would jump on it.

Here is want Rich - AnalogVX told me about those skid plates:

From experience, the only skid plate you will absolutely need is...
#8-97049-784-0 trans protector $60.00
#8-97104-788-0 bolts $0.56ea
get 4 bolts.
It replaces that flimsy tin crap that's bolted to the crossmember now.


If you really really really want the other skid plates they are...
8-97018-375-2 Heat Protector $87.71
8-97036-238-1 Frame Protector $ $39.08

I think these 2 are a waste of money. The heat protector is the skid plate from the older Trooper which protects some exhaust piping that we do not have. This is also the one that hangs excessively low, I took it off.
