    Bolt size

    Hello,

Can someone tell me the size in mm the oil pan drain plug bolt is?

I do not have a wrench big enough and I want to go buy a nice one for changing the oil, but I cannot find the size in the manual anywhere.

    Thanks - Bart

    Thanks!

I got a 22mm wrachet bit and a breaker bar and it came loose in a matter of milliseconds with that.

Tell me more about this Fumato valve?

    Thumbs up

The Fumoto valve is basically a low-profile quarter-turn ball valve with a locking detent. You replace your drain plug with it and whenever you need to drain oil you just reach under and turn the tab. That simple.

Many folk have commented that since it sticks out about an inch that it could get damaged, but the reality is that if you knock one off then there was a lot more knocked off along with it (like a good chunk of your suspension).

I use them on all my street vehicles, my Caterpillar dozers and any other equipment they have fitment for. On stuff like my 25-ton crane they make a version with a nipple for fitting a hose, so you can drain to a remote location. The crane's diesel engine is mounted in the rear of the house (crane cab) and it's not the easiest thing to crawl around in, especially with all the winches, clutches, linkages and cables in there. Same deal with the dozers since they have thick steel armor protecting the engine below, so I can just snake a hose out the side and through the tracks to a bucket. Wish I had done the same thing for the Detroit Diesel in my semi-tractor too, as it's a long way from the drain the to ground!

    Here's a link to their site: www.fumotovalve.com

Any questions about real-world use and function, just ask!
