rear marker light

Has anyone removed (or know how to remove) the raised plastic piece that the rear marker lights sit in. With the marker lights removed, there seem to be two screws/bolts attaching this piece to the outside of the cladding, but I can't see how to get to the screws/bolts to remove them. Anyone been there before???

Rear side markers are screwed in from behind the cladding - actually they have studs on them and there are nuts holding them in place. To remove them you need to remove the rear cladding and then pull out the side cladding enough to your hand/tool in there. VX cd has some take apart diagrams.
