I know there has been a ton of posts for upgrades on tires to better off road or street tires that are wider. All have problems w/ clearance and require cutting of the cladding. I was wondering if anyone new of or could recomend an all terrain tire that would be stock with. but maybe in a 70 for 18 inch stock rims ? that you could mount without any cutting or rubbing. I not too familiar with the tire numbers would say a 246/70/18 work? and does anyone know if an all terrain tire comes in this size? thanks

What are the stock tires size? If you want, you can get the Nitto Terra Grapplers in a 255/55/18... I'm not sure what they look like exactly... but would assume they just look like low profile, narrower versions of the tires I have on my VX. Here is a link... the picture though is a generic picture of the Terra Grapplers that is used for ALL sizes.

Anyway, I purchased mine from there and found they had the best prices... at least when I was looking for mine.

In case your not familiar with the different numbers in the tires size, here is the best, basic description... 255/55/18

first number... 255... width... this is the width of tread pattern in millimeters... simple enough.

Second number... 55... aspect ratio... this number is a ratio of how tall the sidewall of the tire is in comparison to the width... in this case... 255mm x .55 = 140.25mm... this is the height of the sidewall of the tire... make sense?

third number... 18... rim size... no brainer... 18" rim.

Now, if you go to this link, you can see how tire sizes will vary... you can input your stock tire size and the size of the tire you are intersted in... it will tell you how they compare as well as your amount of speedometer inaccuracy.

I know this doesn't really answer your question, but if you find a tire you really like, don't let cutting the cladding stop you. I just got my Nitto 285/60/18s, and had hesitated a good bit over it because of the cutting. I shouldn't have - it was the easiest thing I have ever done. Took off a tiny sliver of plastic in under five minutes, and you can't even see it unless you get inside the fender well, and even then only if you know what it looked like before. 30 seconds with some sandpaper, and my cuts looked factory stock.
You may not want tires that big, but if you find you do, don't let the cladding stop ya!
