Right - well I guess I haven't properly introduced myself here inasmuch as I didn't have ownership of a VX - until now!

I guess I'm a regular Isuzu nut having owned four models since 1988 including an '82 Cheverolet PUP, a '91 Isuzu Pick-up, a '96 Rodeo and now, a '00 VX. As of now, I still have the Rodeo and VX.

I'm a fairly regular member of the 4x4wire forum and ZUtah Wheeler websites (same user name) and have been to ZUZoo for the past two years (I attended ZUZoo VII and VIII and I'm planning on attending IX in May-06).

The Rodeo (Panzer) is heavily built for offroad and is not so city friendly anymore hence my desire to purchase another vehicle (of course it had to be an Isuzu - but also the best damn engineered one to date) for the city streets.

I look forward to conversing with you all on the best mods and common fixes to minor issues and hope to see you all on the trails someday.

    Best,

    Thumbs up

Just purchased a used 2000 Dragon Green with 36000 miles via Ebay. I drove it from Cleveland to Chicago to Houston. Wonderful drive and a great machine. My brother owns two VX's (Black and Burgundy), and my nephew has one (Silver). I have two Troopers too! Excellent product. The only problem I have after the drive, is the passenger side window has a problem with allignment and cannot properly seat itself.

    New Sighting

A bit of a story. While cruising along the riverside today I saw this really cool, futuristic vehicle coming towards me with Michigan plates, I'm in Canada. Didn't know what it was , after asking around they said maybe I saw a Izuzu VehiCross.

Dumbfounded I don't recall ever hearing about this vehicle, not even sure if they were available in Canada, long story short I'm hooked, some say obcessed, I say whatever.

Man this thing is ahead of its time. I described the vehicle as a Baja 1000 mixed with Star Wars, and I find out they had an Ironman Edition , so there you go.

Hope you don't mind me getting to know about the vehicle. This is exactly the kind of vehicle I need next.

    Greetings!

    Hello everyone!

I'm not yet an owner, but when the insurance check comes in from my most recent encounter, I want a Vehicross! I've seen a few on the road over the last few years, and since I need a sporty, economical SUV, I've been captured by the VX's looks, features and overall coolness.

I live and work in Big Sur, CA (!!!), and in addition to our seasonal slides and road closures I often contend with tech-support house calls to remarkably inaccessible dwellings. My dog Sophie prefers her comforts when she joins me, and I have scattered family, so a nice ride for long hauls is needful. All in all, the VX seems like a righteous ride.

Once I'm an owner, I'll gladly share photos of its new home! As a working geek, I dig the variety and enthusiasm shown in the mods, and conviviality of this community - y'all look like a lot of fun to hang with!

    Yours in Science, Steve

    P.S.

Please consider pulling over to answer your cell phone, or simply waiting until you arrive to answer that call! I used to jump like Pavlov's dog when my cell rang, but after three (3) accidents in 12 months, none of them my fault and every one involving a cell phone, I'm changing my behavior and encouraging others to do likewise.

    new here

I am planning to get a vehicross in a few months. I have read alot regarding the history of the vehicle and decided I have to have one of these. I dont do a lot of off road so I might turn it to a an on road vehicle with spare off road tires. I currently own an MR2 spyder http://www.cardomain.com/ride/801819. Has anyone turbo charged the VX? All ive seen were supercharged ones. I'm gonna build me a beast!!! Hehe

    Hello everyone,

I am a proud owner of a 2000 White Ironman. I have owned it for about three weeks now and have enjoyed driving it everyday. I live in Maine and I am a framing contractor by trade. One of the great things about living where I do is the fact that there are a lot of places to go off-roading and I have been taking every opportunity to so. I am happy to have found this group too. I have been reading the posts for a few of weeks now. It funny because when I was thinking about buying my VX I found this forum and starting reading the posts and viewing the gallery. I would have to say the info I found in this forum was a major influenced on me purchasing my little beauty. I will be looking for some advice on mods from all you die hard VX drivers. Cheers

Hey guys, I've been checking out this site for a while, and decided to jopin when I saw there were other people near me with Vx's. I live over in Lakeland, FL, and I've noticed a lot of you guys live not too far from here. My V is a Dragon Green, 2001 model. I know that someone not too far from me owns two, I think a white and something else, and I've seen another one right around the lake where I live, also white.
So I just wanted to say "hey" and I hope maybe I can meet some of the guys who are close to me and chat about our V's. By the way, I don't know much about cars, I'm a musician and don't deal with much more than simple maintenance on my car, so hopefully I can learn some great things from all you guys.

Smile Destiny brought me my new VX...

Hello everyone! I am new, and here is my VX (long) story (short):

Last week, my paid off black 2000 Xterra croaked on me while I was on a road trip (I won't go into detail here, it's much too painful and still fresh in my mind). Once I got home, I knew I needed a new car, as the expense to fix my Xterra out-weighed its current value.

So, for the next two days I moaped around at the thought of buying a new SUV, especially since I really don't like the new Xterra, and all the other mid-sized SUVs out there look pretty boring imo, but then I searched for some used online, and found my VX. It was just traded in, at a dealer only 4 miles away from where I live, and better yet, it was a BLACK 2001, and it only has 25,000 miles!

For years I looked at the Vehicross, and drooled over its exquisite, futuristic design and all the other cool features of this truck, only to know that I would probably never own one. But today I drove home in my new baby, and I loved every second of it!

More to come from me very soon. I look forward to being an active member of this group.

    Bart

I was in Biloxi MS at the Presidents Casino about 6 years ago and saw my first VX. A yellow proton VX in the parking lot. Went over and knew that some day I had to have one. The price of $ 30,000 + made my decision to purchase a VX at that time a little difficult. I bought a 1999 Isuzu Amigo instead of the VX which I still have and love. In March 2006 I finally purchased the 2000 Dragon Green Mica VX from a private individual in the Ft. Lauderdale area of Florida. Drove all the way from Tampa Bay to buy the car on site. Original owner, 38,000 miles and excellent condition. Paid $ 14,900 and it was in such good condition, I would have paid more. I love this vehicle and cannot understand why Isuzu does not put the VX back in production. I guess it will make our VX's more of a collectors item and valuable.

Cool My other airplane is a Yellow Proton VX!

Have owned my Yellow VX for just over a month and I LOVE IT! What a great vehicle! This little truck is a kick to drive and I feel like I'm going fast over hill and dale just driving it down the street (Northern Virginia). This is the closest thing to flying fast movers low level since I left the Marine Corps. Crank it up and rock and roll!

Since I've purchased I've run into one other owner (Silver '99), and I have had a note left under my wiper from someone named Ron at the Sterling Lowes (please contact via forum or e-mail: curiouswords@hotmail.com) who owns a white VX?

Is there a version of Moab anywhere "back East?" Looking for recommendations for off-road opportunities in Northern Virginia also.

Greetings, from the lurker formerly known as luz. Now that I am legit, I figured a moniker with a trifle more panache might be in order.

Although I vaguely remembered that nifty salt flats wallet-on-the-trunk commercial, I really had no idea what a VX was until about eight weeks ago. The Saab SPG was getting a bit tatty and some serious R&R was long overdue. A new vehicle was in order and I, in an uncharacteristic fit of responsible thinking, began looking for a used Dodge Magnum, depreciation suitably absorbed by the original owner. Leather, sensible six, reasonable audio, or in other words, a practical car with just a pinch of sportiness to keep things interesting. So it's a done deal, or was at least until the better half, muzzle slathered in foam, starts raving nonsensically about this sport ute that is “totally us”.
As a motorcyclist, cell phones, soccer moms and SUVs are at the top of my list of things-that-should-be-banned-in-perpetuity. 4WD was pretty much a non-starter too, especially considering that I can barely tolerate FWD and then only because the eternally snow bound Swedes seem to insist. So, you can imagine my surprise when I am completely blown away by this pugnacious, four-wheeled football with fangs.
Evidently, the spousal unit took my glazed stare as the green light and in no time had dragged home a sound, if cosmetically challenged VX and proceeded to become best friends with Merlin of Missouri and Cosmo the local body shop guy. I warmed rapidly to the project, but creative conflicts arose. Territorial disputes loomed menacingly.

Employing a masterful diversionary tactic, the Weasel scampered east, a stone’s throw past the Emerald City and returned five days later with a far better than passable Proton, effectively ending any designs I might have had on the ex-Ebony, now Copper Bullet. Also included in the deal were Tornado Chaser and Flying Monkey Airlines tee shirts. Certainly a nice gesture, not to mention an authentic bit of Kansas kitsch. This is one slick sweetie.
So, I am yet again tilting at a few windmills and diving headlong, practicality be damned, into another lost cause. But on the other hand, if this website is any indication, I’ll have more than a few friends in the orphanage!

... tell us a little about yourself and your VX (Your name [nickname], year, color, last 4 of your VIN#, mods and a small blurb your occupation, hobbies, etc.)

    John
    99 Ironman White 1364
    61K miles
    purchased 5/10/06 from CarMax Dallas
    $11,998
Came with new Goodyear Eagle LS tires; I added a pair of convex blind spot mirrors, otherwise it is bone stock.

I'm sitting in the CarMax dealership right now, waiting for the service dept. to align the front end (pulled right, my regular frame and alignment shop told me excessive toe out, otherwise frame and suspension in very good condition), fix the binding passenger window, and repair/replace the rear factory speakers which are emitting split cone sounds. All will be covered under the CarMax 30-day guarantee, I trust. I adjusted the hood bumpstops yesterday to silence a squeaking hood latch. Washed and waxed with a Rain-X treatment, done at CarWash USA - it cleaned up nicely. It is a fun stress-free ride around town, coming from an '02 Dodge Quad Cab 1/2-ton lifted 6" on 35" tires. It should be a blast off-road with just a few mods. I'm looking at more agressive tires, with new wheels an option for the short term, with a Calmini lift and sway bars, rear locker, ring and pinion swap, free flowing intake and exhaust, an ARB rear locker, and maybe a blower in the future. The "IRONMAN" hood lettering and body stickers have got to go (the subtle embossing on the Recaros can stay), because I'm already getting ribbed about it at work. I'm halfway thinking about replacing it with "BALDMAN", or "LEADASS", or something more accurately descriptive of me that would fit in the space.

    Occupation: Registered nurse
Hobbies: Off-roading, adventure touring on my Ducati Multistrada, amateur radio operator (current technician class license holder), and recreational shooting.

Hi ,am in the process of buying a 1999 jdm vx #6 of 175 ltd. edition model.
Have been trying to obtain the thing now for 2 months, it has a trans noise like a dry bearing that no one can find, has new diff bearings and trans. case has been apart too, i hope they can find it so i can get my hands on it soon, if any one has any ideas on what the noise may be please look in the jdm section "tod and low 4wd" to reply , thanks.
have liked the vcross since first seeing one a few years ago and have now sold my 1996 xs plaisir bighorn 4wd to obtain one, have had great run from other Isuzu 4wds and have given them death too. Most are Japanese imports here in New Zealand.
    Cheers: anut
