Has ANYONE done a SAS in a VX yet?

I am killing time during my conversion... waiting for parts... and have had too much time to think about one things suggested to me during the early stages of my motor swap... SAS! Has anyone here or anywhere done a solid axle swap on a VX? If so, is there any info anywhere on the conversion? I orignially said NO WAY to this, but am starting to think that its gonna have to happen eventually... sooo... just wanted to pose the question. Lemme know... BTW, I did a SAS search on here... nothing found.

Coach, you might want to check the 4x4 wire. I don't know of any VXers who have done an SAS (although Swordy was considering it and might have some info...also word has it that Boarzhead is in the process of having one done so he may have info) but I know Dan Houlster has done a very nice SAS on his Amigo and has a write up on it on his WEB SITE that may be of some help.

Boarzhead is going to do the SAS in April. He has already gone into the shop for measurements but haven't heard from him since then.

Some REAL good info on there... I just sent an email to a friend about some of his input... he has built a couple of serious rigs from nuttin... I'm gonna start picking his brain and see what he things... see if he wants to take it on with me... I know he digs the VX... and so he's probably very likely inclined to do it... here's to hoping!

I think SAS will negatively impact handling.

Uhhhh... yeah... but the question is whether the added benifits offroad (articulation and durability) are worth the handling loss... I have stopped to think about my driving habits... and I don't drive fast or make many abrupt manuevers... basically I am a very NON-aggressive driver and so I don' t know if the handling loss will be too much missed... maybe occassionally.. but not very often.
