Question Engine break-in - synthetic vs reg

I have heard that when breaking in a new engine, you should run it for at least 12 to 20,000 miles with regular oil changes every 3000 miles before switching over to synthetic.

    Is this true?

Found this as I was looking around.
Chevy Corvettes, Dodge Vipers, Porsche and Mercedes-Benz all use Mobil 1 synthetic oil from the factory.
I think i just answered my own question, hehe

I changed at my first oil change @ 1000miles and never had any problems. Rings seat pretty quickly.

I read at both Amsoil's and Mobil 1's websites that with today's engines, you can use synthetic right away.

If love is blind, why is lingerie so popular?

    Cool

All Brand-spanking-new Locomotives We build at GE have Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Oil in Gearboxes. (6 per Loco.)

My Brother told me all M1-Abraham Army Tanks are Jet-turbine powered (they burned the paint off civilian cars that followed too closely in Bosnia!) and use Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil for lubrication.

I've personally had good luck with both Valvoline Durablend in my other vehicles and Mobil 1 in both my Fiero (186,000 miles) and VehiCross (33,000 miles).
