Hi, do you have any suggestion what child car seat is the best for this car ?
Raoul..
Welcome to this board ! I'm not too far in the Los Angles Forest if you need help with your VX. A few pointers to never forget.
I'm not sure which seat to use as all our kids are grown but I have heard of a lot of sales of VX's over needing a more kid friendly car. Just getting to the back seat can be a big challenge let alone trying it with child in hand. I have heard from some of the survivors of this they go through the back door and over the seat. Either way it's a challenge.
1. Always check your oil every time you put gas in. (I own 3 and have had a qt of oil burned in 100 miles 4x4ing)
2. Check the coolant level in the radiator (not the resevoir) often when engine is COLD !!
3. In the summer or higher temps watch the temp gauge CLOSE ! They can over heat in the blink of a eye a toast the engine. Every spring 3-4 will loose a engine do to over heating and running out of oil.
4. Don't trip on the ABS light.
5. Service the transmission often (30,000-50,000 miles and get a transmission cooler. The transmissions on these can be very temperamental on running temperatures. Transmissions might be the #1 VX killer.

My VX is at Mitch's Auto in Pasadena right now. I'm actually trying to find an ABS module cuz he's having problems finding one. So far he's been good, but I've only used him once. He's got good ratings. I have a carseat in the rear passengers side. It's pretty easy to install. I lean the back seat down and after tightening it up, i bring it back up until it's snug. I use the top strap and connect it to the trunk net hook.
Call me a geek, or maybe even nerd, but face the facts, we da ones be rulin' this world!
You can get that module rebuilt for less than $100 from an Ebay seller. You only need to send the electrics and you can drive the VX with the black electrics removed with just the silver box in place.
I remember seeing on here somewhere that the dodge Dakota had the same ABS module. Maybe that will help expand your search?
Here is the thread on the Dodge Durango ABS control module:

The picture links are broken (at least they are for me), but if you look up the control module on your favorite search engine you can see that it looks like a dead match for our control module. I believe that you need to make sure that you get the control module form a 4x4 Durango.

I used the same thread to find one on EBay. The part is:
04-05 Dodge Durango 4x4 ABS Brake Control Module 52113683AC
It has been working fine since I installed it at the end of May.
Ordered. Installed. First time in 10 yrs that the ABS light has been off.![]()
Yay!
