    Moab 2018

The stoop location for 2018 is the Kokopelli Lodge,
    72 South 100 East, Moab Utah 84532,
    phone 435-259-7615,
    info@kokopellilodge.com
    http://kokopellilodge.com/kokopelli-lodge

The Kokopelli Lodge only has 9 rooms, but in 2017 we only had about 6 rooms filled at the Apache so we should be good with 9 rooms in 2018.
I have booked a room at the Kokopelli Lodge for Sat, May 12, 2018 through Sun, May 19, 2018.

If the Kokopelli is booked up you can book a room across the street at the Rustic Inn,
    120 East 100 South, Moab, Utah 84532,
    Phone 435.259.6177
    office@moabrusticinn.com
    https://www.moabrusticinn.com/
The rooms are a little more per night but are bigger than the Kokopelli rooms.

Both the Kokopelli and Rustic are pet friendly so you can stay at either place if you bring a pet.

    QUICK OVERVIEW: Trust us veterans!
    • 4Lo is the main thing you NEED, and only SOMETIMES.
    • Sliders are nice for protection, but not necessary.
    • Bigger tires, maybe 31s at least, are also nice, but not necessary.
    • A little lift or larger tires allow you to clear virtualy everything.
    • DON'T NEED a winch or rock bumpers. Always someone in group that has a winch if needed.
    • Many long timers are very used to helping 1st timers learn the ropes!
    • The first day trail is always an easier one for everyone (including stockers) to get acquainted with the terrain.
    • There’s always multiple lines to choose from to best suit your rig, and there’s ALWAYS a helpful spotter to guide you
(Here I am first year, all stock! No lift, tires even a hair smaller than stock!!! With Billy Oiliver spotting me. ) (y)
    • Undercarriage scrapes are likely, but not fatal, espcially with skid plates. ALWAYS sound WAY worse than they are!
    • LOWER Front & Rear bumper scrapes occasionally, but usually can avoid.
    • Trailer hitch can take the brunt of rear scrapes.
    • Can bring your friendly dog, most motels allow. BUT NOT ALLOWED IN NATIONAL PARKS...only a few trails are in official NP. Doggie daycare is available in town. ALWAYS consider temps before leaving in car (never a good idea ever). Moab is usually hot!
    • Also note…you don’t have to stay the entire week. Many just stay 4 or 5 days and it’s still well worth it!!
    • AND REMEMBER, YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO CRAZY INSANE THINGS! Those familiar with the trails can advise you what they’re like and what your rig can do and you say what you don't want to do with it.

Not sure what I'll be doing that far out, but as long as I am not moving again (military) I will do my best to make it.

Ok, So I will NOT be moving durring this time. I will plan to be there. However, before I do, I still need to do some shorter test runs on the VX before I drive it 1550 miles, then take it off road in Moab, then another 1550 miles back. I am thiniking around the middle of January I will know for sure. As long the VX holds up, I will be there.

I hope your test runs go good and the VX is up to the drive and trails in Moab.

So far it looks like I won’t be going this year. I was hoping, but the VX still needs lots of work on the reliability side. Transmission mostly. Unfortunately this is going to eat to far into my budget. Damn it ...

Have fun, everyone! I'll be in an even hotter and less hospitable place during that time period....oh and about 8,000 miles away.

Moab is right around the corner, if you do not have lodging yet you might want to get on it soon.
We are staying at the Kokopelli. I just called them to verify my reservation and see if they still had rooms.
They are all booked up except they have the suite with kitchenette, king, and 2 twin beds for $149 per night available 5/14 - 5/18 if anyone is interested.
