    Great P0301

Was on my way out of town for a small weekend vacation when my VX started loosing power going up a big hill. We got to the top of the hill and the check engine started blinking at me so I pulled over and slowed down. As we came to a stop the VX started shuttering and the engine ran really rough. Checked my OBD and it was reading code: P0301. Limped home from there sweating bullets.
Is this a misfire code in cylinder one?
And how do I fix it without costing me valuable recession avoiding dollars?

    Thanks for your help!

Give this link a try Stefan, first thing is to pull you plug and take a look to see what it tells you.

One thing that article didn't mention is an intake manifold gasket leak at cylendar 1. This is a common problem with our beloved VX.

By all means, first check your plug and swap the coil pack from cyl 1 to another cyl to see if the fault moves.

Spray PB Blaster around the intake manifold gasket (near cyl 1) with the engine running. If the idle changes, then indications are that you have an intake manifold gasket leak.

When I had this issue it was a clogged fuel rail.

I'm pretty sure that cylinder 1 is front of the engine on the passenger side. So on the passenger side, starting from the front of the engine they are cylinders 1,3 and 5 and on the drivers side, starting at the front of the engine they are cylinders 2,4 and 6.
