    Door Window Squeegee Question

    Friends,

I'm having some paint work done while the VX is in the shop. They're very thorough and want to envelop the exterior of the doors with paint. Which means taking off the squeegee or whatever it's called at the slice in the door where the window lives.

Pic attached for clarity purposes (stolen from an old post by Tom - thanks bud!).

Shop wants to know how this piece is attached so they don't damage during removal. It is double sided tape? Fastened from the inside (they haven't taken the panel off yet)?

Just shout it out if you know.

    Thanks,

It's been awhile but I seem to remember there being clips holding it on not tape. And of course they are easy to break.
    There's no 'I' in denial.

Not sure, been a while since I had the doors apart on the VX, but on corvettes they are riveted in place AND have metal clips to hold in place.

It is held in by clips, I think... . I seem to recall removing mine when I did the SBC brackets. I might be thinking of my other car.

With the door panel off, you can see about 10 clips holding on the trim. They're mounted on a rail and need to be slid off. There is a section of the rail that has a break and that's where you can remove them.

The clips are not difficult to remove but some will probably break.

Thanks guys, and particularly for those details, 'Rado. I'm sure they'll be most helpful to the shop.

Just to elaborate, they're thin metal tabs on the door spaced every few inches, that you match up and slide into the holes on the hard plastic part of the rubber strip piece. (See pics)
It's super easy to remove. Like Jon said, some tabs may break, but it's not that big of a deal, pbkid (Jack) used some type of sticky putty type stuff to hold mine in tightly. I subsequently got a replacement from a junkyard.

***DO NOTE- That strip has a metal core so it can be BENT VERY EASILY, and it's fairly hard to get it bent back EXACTLY right...so be gentle with it.

    Here's pics.
