Vaso, the shocks should be in the normal position, but it does extend them a bit. If you have stock shocks there is enough travel in them to handle the lift. When I lifted mine (more precisely when Jo, Dub and Jay lifted mine) I did notice a little difference in the handling. Obviously you're sitting a little higher off of the ground so your center of gravity is a little higher so the VX wants to roll a little bit more in hard cornering. I also noticed a bit of dive under hard braking with the lift (I initially kept the stock shocks on), but not anything scary.

Independent 4X4 sells coil spacers if you would rather do that instead of getting new springs. http://www.independent4x.com/Isuzu-B...ane-_c_32.html I have a set of their 2" spacers and a set of taller springs (not installed together).
