    PM me your addy.

BTW, Barts Timing Belt replacement How2 is included on the DVD. Would appreciate your mechanic's input on any additions/corrections he feels relevant.

Tom, I used Bart's Timing Belt Replacement How-To when I replace the timing belt on my old engine and the one thing that I can remember that should have been added is in the re-assembly portion. I know that this totally goes without saying, but apparently I needed it to be said; replace the radiator drain plug before trying to fill the radiator with new fluid.

I was so paranoid the whole weekend that I was doing the timing belt replacement. I was so afraid that I was going to forget to do something, or was going to do something just flat out wrong. I tore all the way into the engine, replace the belt, re-aligned the cams, put everything back together, following Bart's instructions to the letter, and started to fill the radiator before starting the car when I hear fluid gushing out of the bottom of the VX. After a massive, but very quick, panic attack I had a smack my forehead, I coulda had a V8, moment and realized that I never replaced the radiator drain plug. I blame Bart for this because he didn't put it in his instructions (that I could see) and for someone like myself who knows just enough mechanical type stuff to make myself dangerous everything needs to be spelled out. So, thanks Bart, for the slight heart attack that I had.

How did the TB replacement go?
How much did it set you back?

I'm getting close to the 100K mark, so I need to start thinking about doing this too.

Had to buy tires so it's still pending to get done by him.

He gave me a price of $200 for labor and then parts. OEM parts will run about $700 including the water pump and a Gates kit is about $350.

I know that bartmanS4 has had some work done by him with great results.

There is also a new member that has a shop in Denver...Warrior Automotive...his name is Jacob and you can reach him at 7 two zero 255 three 84 one...he rescued his Proton and has done some nice work on it including rebuilding the motor. I met him at the recent meet and he's a great guy and a veteran as well.

Who would be so silly as to do this? Not leave the plug out but to admit to it in writing. Hey we all have these moments.

Hello, thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to call Anthony and see if I can come over to learn a thing or two more. It's always good to pick another mechanics brain. I like learning from veterans in the field.
    Thanks for the info.
