HELP w/finding tires BEFORE MOAB!! PLEASE

    I'm in trouble!!!

My tires won't make the trip, so I need a new set before SUNDAY!!!

I want to keep the stock rims, I drive like my VX is a sports car and I NEVER EVER take it off road. I would like to have something that looks "cool" to match everything else but at this point, Im not sure what will happen.

I'm still coming to Moab, but I really need help!!!

Can someone point me in the direction of a cool looking tire, something that will look right but that can hug corners???

    PLEASE HELP!!
    ---------

    Ty

My son was just telling me the other day about some Nittos that are a very mild AT tread design ... but have side biters on the side walls. Sounds very interesting to me for a DD but I haven't tried searching for them yet.

Since I just put 3" lift on the Amigo, that's prolly what I'll go with ... if they have them in 31x10.50.

Like many others here I am, currently, running a set of Nitto Terra Grapplers on the VX. http://www.nittotire.com/TireSelecto...=grapplertruck This is actually my second set because I liked them so much. They are aggressive looking, but can handle themselves on the road quite nicely. We have bunch of curvy mountain roads around here, and I can throw the VX into a corner with confidence knowing that the Grapplers will hold their line. They are also a mighty fine off-road tire (even though you say you never go off-road) and work great in the winter snow and slush. I'm pretty sure that Big-O carries them so they should be easy to get ahold of.

Depending on what size you get, you may need to trim a little triangle off of the front cladding. Not to worry, the piece that you need to cut off is inside of the front fender well, and to tell you the truth, probably shouldn't have been there in the first place. The Terra Grapplers fill up the wheel wells nicely on a stock VX, and look great on a lifted VX.

I might actually shoot for the Trail Grapplers for my next set of tires because they are a little more aggressive looking than the Terra Grapplers, but it's tough to give up the all around performance of the Terras.

    That's my two cents.

    Ty,

BTW, I've been running Firestone Destinations on the Proton for 2 years. They are listed as an AT but have a very mild tread. I like them a lot for street use but they are only OK for trail use.

They were kinda a tire picked for me 'cause I needed something in a hurry & 33x12.50 R15 tires aren't all that common. My local dealer was able to get 4 next day delivery. When 1 was found to have factory damage (small tear at bead), it took them a week to get what I was told was the last one in US of A out of Oklahoma.

Since you're not really looking for an off-road tire (more "street"), then seriously consider this:

    http://stores.tirezoneusa.com/bf-goo...018-285-60r18/

The 285/60R18 size will fit perfectly on the OEM 18x7 stock rim with little or no trimming required (each VX is different, so some may require cladding trim; while other VX's may not).

I estimate that I'll end up getting about 60-70K out of the Firestones when all is said & done.

I've only run 1 set of Hankook (on an Eclipse). They were very good tires. Lotsa siping for grip & good channeling to avoid hydroplaning.
