Is that based on a recent test somewhere?

There are more out there, just Google it. I've yet to find a quantitative analysis that shows Mobil 1 as superior to Pennzoil Ultra. Close/same, but not better.

so is Castrol Edge if you listen to the ad's. There all good. comes down to which one do you like, GM/MOPAR/FOMOCO as an example, or maybe none

This is true AS LONG AS you're "overkilling" on your change interval. If you do the Google search above there are certainly die hard devotees of both, but in reality if you're changing your oil every 3000 miles they're probably nearly identical. But stretch that change interval out to say 7500 or 10000 miles and one might very well be better than the others. Not that I would ever wait that long between changes, just saying...
