The Curt could probably handle the load as long as it's mounted with grade 8 hardware, they are a well built, heavy duty hitch; it'd take alot to bend one. I've got two of 'em and you could have one but I'm not sure how'd I'd get it to ya...You could probably source one locally for less then the shipping from here to there, those suckers are heavy!

The hitches I've sent out so far only cost about $30 by USPS freight - takes about a week.

Sue, I think Welder Guy may have a couple of hitches ready (haven't talked to him in a couple of weeks). I'm sure that based on your need that the others on the waiting list wouldn't mind if I got you set up first.

How much does the chair weigh? It looks like you'll probably be carrying about 200lbs. Your current hitch could probably handle that but not much more & that depends a lot on how rough the roads are in your area. I know that you have a long gravel driveway but I'm talking teeth chattering potholes here.

You still have my cell #. Gimme a call if you want to discuss.

BTW, that folding adapter should be as strong as any that are already built into the tray.

    Sue,

One other option would be to fabricate one that doesn't use the hitch. I'm sure that Welder Guy & I could come up with one that bolts to the frame, folds up against your VX hiney, & is easily removed.

Thanks Tom and Scott for the technical/enginerd info.
    Scooter weighs 192#.
Road is super rough - 1/2 mile of rocks, ruts and washboard mostly.
I can see I shouldn't even attempt it. Phew, glad I decided to post this.

Awful kind of you nut bro , but I don't want to step in front of anybody on the waiting list, I can just use the other car.

But maybe keep those wheels in the old brain bucket rollin' to come up with sumpin' else, maybe some type of all-in- one super hitch with a built-in fold-up. We'll call it SuperHitch - - to go along with SuperBumper!

    Wheelz iz turnin

I'll visit our machine shop regularly for a while to dumpster dive their scrap bins. Mebbe I can come up with the mounting/folding part & when you get the tray you want, it'll just be a matter of having your fabricator bolting it on.

The concept in my mind will probably cause you to lose the mount for your purple shackle. I'll hafta come up with a way to build that back in.
