TOD indicator is flickering,but the check light is'nt on

Just bought a 1999 Vehicross.
The TOD indicator lights flicker on an off while driving.
Transmission seems to shift back and forth causing lights to flicker.
The tires don't match Rear: 255/70/16, Front:245/75/16.
My mechanic says its the transmission solenoid.
Has anyone had this problem?

you must have the same size tires, psi, and tread wear for tod to function properly - i would try this before i pay someone to dig into the transmission

when i bought my vx it had different tires on the back and it did not drive right - i wonder if the previous owner driving it like this for an extended period of time had something to do with my transfer case going out

Like evil said...you MUST have same size tires front and rear. Non matching tires will cause your tod to go crazy...different size tires spin at different rates causing the tod to think tires are slipping.

For emphasis only. Listen to the posts above. And get a new mechanic because the one you're using is a danger to your VX.

After you get matching tires all around, if the symptoms are still there, let us know. We'll point you to the diagnostic procedures to locate what/where the problem is.
