Well, it's a really long story, and he scratched the crap out of my cladding on one side (fixed with ShowRoom New dye), but my fab shop can make the exact same guards (bare metal), they even made a few brackets to be ready for any future orders. I have a pair of black ones for a 99-01 Rodeo, made by Manik. This is the model that matches the closest to the VX. It's what Julian911 and wekilled used. They're available if you're interested in them.
