My ac compressor was making a racket so I bypassed it by putting on a shorter belt. All went as planned until I started it up and there it was
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT....
Why???? Any ideas??

Would need to run the codes with an OBDII tester. Most parts stores will check the codes for free.

Sounds good I will but what could i have done to make it turn on? Does the compressor have another job besides the obvious?
