The guys at Level Ten sounds like they may have some solutions. They are in NJ for you locals but sale kits that a local rebuilder can install.

I think I'd want to see some metrics on how much more power the trans could handle after this upgrade. $400 + labor is pretty pricey for something that ***could*** be snake oil.
Save yourself the risk, just do this:

I agree. Our trannies are genetic weaklings. This sounds like Wheaties?
So if I do this I can finaly drop in that Lambo motor I've got in my garage?
Calling all supercharged VXers, have any of you had any issues damaging the transmission?
How far can we push our motors and trannies before things just get silly?

Level 10 is well known in import drag racing. Their specialty is taking obscure (often time import) automatic trannies and have with handle 3-5 times the power they were originally designed for. The problem is that many of those mods are meant to be dragracing trannies and not see many street driven miles. But then again, we will not be asking for tripling the original power![]()
Good to know, but... how far can we push what we already have before needing to do these upgrades?
Specifically regarding the superchargers, ported, plus a methanol kit, figure +75 horse to the stock 215HP. Obviously not going to be driving hard constantly, just want to know the risks.

I was looking at rebuilding a transmission, I would definitely talk to them before going with someone local.
Awwwww DUDE...NO!!!
Stay away from the meth...yer teeth will fall out, & you'll start looking really old, &...
Oh woops...wrong meth...
OK, back on topic..
I've never had a problem in approx 80k miles of S/C'd driving, & I'm not exactly known for being gentle on the equipment.
However, I do change fluid (Amzoil) & filter more often than most...![]()
Changing to synthetic is the best upgrade for our transmissions, I believe. Do the other vessels while you're at it.
Level 10 and Import Performance Trans are arguably 2 of the best in the business...but some of their products are simply reselling parts from someone else. For example, the valve-body kit they sell is actually made by Translab, but IPT sells it as their own and charges more for it.
For those who aren't aware, trans mods will help increase the life of your transmission--even without additional power. But--as with most mods--you sacrifice something to get that. Mod it for rock crawling & it won't be as well mannered for grocery-getting. With a transmission, the mods usually have to do with line pressure. This makes the shifting snappier and abrupt; opposite of how stock transmissions are. For some people this doesn't bother them, but if you don't like "harder" shifts, then trans mods (at least to the valve body) are probably not a great idea for you.
That said, I'm planning to add the same longevity mods to my VX trans as I have in my GTO; a heat exchanger & one of these:

Only problem is, I'm not exactly sure where to put the heat exchanger. I sure as **** don't want to cover the radiator any more than it already is.
